I like it. I personally would like a few Black Numenorians or wild man of Dunland thrown in to represent the people's the Witch-king brought against Arnor

Ok, thanks.

Will the Witch- King last long enough with only 10 will?

I guess you can see my tactics, a shield wall backed up by spears, and then a separate group of archers.
The Witch-King is there mainly to cast spells, I guess, but he will also be able to get into the thick of things if need be. Him being on a horse means he can escape pretty much anyone and effectively be a skirmisher.
The two trolls will hopefully be able to smash through almost anything, and bashing or hurling a model in or into a phalanx will really do a lot of damage as my main opponent will be Isengard uruks, rohan and maybe arnor or another custom ranger faction.

I meant to put in some Spectres

Warband 1
Witch King with Dark steed +1 M, +1 F
9 Warriors with shields

Warband 2
Bhurdur, Hill Troll Chieftain
8 Orc Warriors with spears
2 Spectre

Warband 3
Orc Captain with shield
Cave troll
9 Orc Trackers

Would this be better?

Thanks,
LordElrond

Numbers are a bit low for such low quality troops. i'd really drop the WK or Burdhur for a shaman+troops. If you already have the WK taking up your points to nullify enemies then the spectres aren't all that necessary and vice versa.

I think that list looks ok. The new monster rules make Bhurdur and Cave trolls pretty points-efficient. You just need to make sure they don't get riddled with arrows before they can smash face. You have some Trackers to thin enemy archers out a bit.
Lots of Terror causers means lots of terror tests and even with warhorns some of these will fail, which evens up numbers a bit more. Spectres are no bad thing as they can move banner bearers away from the lines without using up the WK's will casting 'compel'.

Looks like a fun list. 3 Warbands, 3 big threats (WK, and the Trolls), an even spread of shields, spears and bows and some decent magic. Solid.

Thanks guys, I think I'm pretty set on that 2nd list, but if anyone has any other tips or an opinion at all, please put your view forward!

Thanks,

My opinion of shamans isn't that good as they cost a lot of points and have such a low defence and are often shot down before they can do anything. Mostly a waste of points IMO

Well just because you may have had bad luck with them does not mean they are bad; for 50pts you get a 5+ free fate roll for your entire army (if you get good positioning), and the issue orcs have with courage is resolved.

His defence isn't that low, just hide him behind all your troops.

Ok
I'll give him a go. Would I swap him with the captain?

Shamans are invaluble. Keep him behind your lines with as many models in front of him a possible. In both my Moria and mordor lists, I regularly take shamans over captains. Nothing better than your opponents hero heroic combatting through your guys, only to be stopped by a orc who has passed his fury save :D

When all of your models are from the same race a Shaman is always worth it.
I don't see the problem with bowfire. In the last few games I played archery was pretty much inexisted.
And if your opponent does take archers, just lay your shaman down. All problems solved.

Those spectres (although really themed) are not so very point efficient. Maybe in a 700pts army, but not in a 500pts.

I'd swap Burhdur out for a regular captain and use the points you gain from that to get more orcs ... Evil forces are weaker and therefore need to outnumber Good forces. Either that or find some way without majorly reducing the number of troops to get more Will for your Witch King. His magic, in combination with a group of warriors, can allow you to do the "Heroic Mob", by transfixing an enemy hero and then charging and destroying it. Plus the use of other spells like Black Dart are useful enough for you to want the extra Will. Orc archery is generally ineffective, so maybe swap the trackers for Mordor Uruk-hai or something stronger in combat than a regular orc.
