Ok so, this 750pt tournament in east grinstead is coming up. I'm not looking forward to fighting a shade, but I don't want to go for the boring 'legolas+sentinels' route (that is actually an effective counter to everything, so no idea why i'm avoiding it). So i was thinking about instead making an army where the focus is on courage so that it doesn't matter if the sahde has greater numbers, because none of the scrubs will actually charge any of my terror causing models :)

Here is list:

Galadriel, Protectress + Radagast

Balin with Durin's Axe
8 Khazad Guard
2 Iron Guard

Gil Galad
8 King's Guard with shield and spear
3 High elves with bows and spears

The aim here is for Radagast and Galadriel to lay down an aura in which all my models cause terror, and anyone who charges them gets a +1 penalty to courage. Considering most Shade armies are just gobbo swarms this should be extra effective and i can pick my fights like a pro. The kignsguard also bring that hench f6 to the army, meaning reavers ain't jack.

Any further tips on how to better this beauty? Discussion will be most welcome :)

If evil has Shamens leading the gobbos too then he'll be auto-passing courage tests. Better take a sniper (Leggy, Ori, King's Huntsman) to remove Shamens.

Totally forgot about that :( This is why I hate playing good; I swear wood elves or an all mounted hero army are the only ways forward :/

I am playing Angmar vs Arnor tonight, I shall almost certainly be taking the Arnor side which will pretty much has the desperate lack of decent leadership. Particlularly against the Witch King and the Tainted.

I almost only play good armies (rarely elves) Fury is nice (especially channelled), I field very few Heroes, almost never mounted. It's all in how you strategize with each force. I actually struggle more with Evil

Nice concept. I'm wondering though if Galadhrim Guards might be better than King's Guard. You get shielding, Fight and Courage boosts, and a pike, for -1D. If the enemy is S4, that extra D isn't worth it, and the pikes can have a huge impact. Then you can take cheaper WE bows+spears, saving a few points. Replace Gil-galad with Rumil and you can give Galadriel an escort.

Gosh spring certainly has sprung and the heat of Summer arrived! Arf, arf! Come on everyone, this is a miniature gaming and not a dating site!

Actually that gives me an idea, we could have a LOTR/Hobbit dating section on the One Ring! I am unfortunately off the market, but I am sure that it could produce some highly random and amusing results

Well, somebody's spring has certainly sprung... :) I meant a military escort, as in, save 70 points by swapping Gil-galad for Rumil, and adding some Guards to Galadriel's warband.

That's all good, except protectress cannot lead galadhrim troops (stupidly).

Yes that really is daft, well I suppose you can ally. Perhaps we should suggest a FAQ ruling to the rules guys at GW.

But the aforementioned Rumil can lead Galadhrim Guards, hooray!!!

Either way, anyone think Radagast has any potential against enemy shamans? He could comman them till they have no will to resist (lol weakest plan ever)

I don't think that's a weak plan at all, it's kinda flexing Radagast's strength in magic like Boromir over a Goblin Captain in terms of physical strength.

I suppose but the only threatening spell Radagast has is immobilize, which isn't necessarily even a threat if the enemy has good model placement. That said, he ALWAYS has line of sight to the enemy doesn't he, I suppose I could get creative with that....
