Post subject: | Rohan in need!!! |
Hi, I recently repented of my evil ways and gave up my mordor army and started building an army of Rohan. I have played a few games with them and although the gaming has been good I feel my army has lacked a little punch and the games have resulted in defeat for the men of Rohan. I am looking for any help available to make the most of this army. I feel they have good potential but think I may be missing something. Any tactical advice or guidance on what peices I should be playing would really help. Cheers. |

PM Thermo, he is somehow managing to turn Rohan into a invincible force and beat some very credible players on the tourney circuit. What do you have currently? |

Eagles, (especially with the new rules) somehow compliment Riders of Rohan very well. I don't play as Rohan much myself though, so my advice is limited. |

Units that I currently have are as follows. 10 riders of Rohan 13 warriors of Rohan Banner bearer on foot Eomer foot and mounted Theoden foot and mounted Eowyn on foot 3 royal guard on foot Gamling foot and mounted both with royal standard of Rohan. I do have plenty of other peices to ally in but I would like to have a pure Rohan force that can deal some damage if that is possible. I will pm thermo too for some tips. Pm may be better as my opponents often stalk my threads. The enemy has many spies!!! |

Hey Stormcrow, thanks for your PM. Great to see another player giving Rohan a good run out! You're not the first to send me a message asking me this. How about I make a YouTube video with Rohan tactica for you? Subscribe to the Great British Hobbit League channel (GBHL podcast) and get your gaming circle on it too and I'll dedicate the video to you, how does that sound? |

I really like my Rohan army. Tricky to use, but rewarding. Sons of Eorl are great, one of the best cavalry options in the game, get some, keep them moving and charging and they'll deliver the goods. Erky, Eomer and Eowyn provide cheap Might and the King's Huntsman is a budget Legolas. Snipe enemy captains to give yourself a Might advantage before attacking full-on. In larger games take Gamling for even more might. Proper use of Might gives you the initiative and Rohan can do well here. Royal Guard using shielding are very good tanks for not many points, they can buy time for your cavalry to do some real damage on the flanks. Lack of spear support means that you need to shield against the tough stuff while trying to get 2-on-1s elsewhere on the table. Don't underestimate throwing spears, over the course of a game the kills will add up. Throw them at high value targets and the points will pay off. Warriors of Rohan aren't great, but they are cheap and have a lot of options to play with. There are some fun synergies to be had with some of the named heroes. Leggy plus Kings's Huntsman is swift death to captains and shamans and Aragorn keeps you moving all game, as well as being deadly in the late game when everyone else is out of Might. You could be a bit left-field and take Radagast, a King's Huntsman and a bunch of WoR with Throwing Spears. Snipe any shamans, throw Aura of Dismay up and lob spears at anyone who fails to charge you. |

Hi thermo. My opponent has a large variety of peices. He has a large arnor force, womt, skoda, dwarves, army of the dead, it's hard to put a typical army list on because he has so many variants. |

Post subject: | Re: Rohan in need!!! |
That is a good point mertaal! So my opponent has a list something like: Malbeth 6x WOA(banner 6xROA (spears) Twins ( armour, bow) 6xWOA 6xROA (spears) Arathorn 6xWOA 6xROA(spears) 4x rangers of the north with spears Any thoughts on what sort of force would be required to smite such a foe?! I'm still a noob using Rohan and I fear for all the poor little horses!!! |
