I was wondering if anyone here had any experience with the Warg Marauders from the Moria Goblins army list.
I'm not asking for rules (I have them), but rather for gaming experience with them.

What are effective ways of using them, and how did you find they did in combat?

Are they just a gimmicky warhammer-esque troop type, or do you feel they actually fit in with Middle Earth.
I like the figure, but it just has a little bit of a greenskin gobbo/warhammer cartoony feel to me.

Not sure what to make of them.
Any opinions?

I haven't actually played with or against them but from what I've read they're very good. I read a battle report recently from a tourney and the winner took about 3 of these.

Being able to shoot constantly (even in combat) is a big bonus; you can charge the front-rank and pepper the support & hero with shots at the same time. Never mind the actual 4 attacks on the charge.

The Terror rule can sometimes be underestimated, but potentially it will keep you alive more than +defence bonuses.

With their mobility I would use them to hunt smaller elements of an army or run down the flanks.

Blackmist likes taking 6 at 500pts and they are deadly. With 4 dice you are almost guaranteed a 6. And with 8 rolls to wound, you'll probably kill whatever you are fighting. And even if you lose the fight, they have 3 wounds so they're unlikely to die.

After reading their rules I'm very glad I don't know any Goblin players nearby. With so many attacks and potential rolls to wound, the rest of their stats don't matter that much. Like SD says, you're almost guaranteed to roll a 6 and kill whatever you're fighting.

Don't forget about the fact that they can't be seperated!
My disappointment was great when I cast Nature Wrath with Thranduil to see it just getting back up completely the next turn!

Really incredible model, I only field one in my moria army and it always pays it's points back. Really useful warriors that can serve any purpose you need them to be whether taking out an immobilized hero, chasing down troops rushing objectives, etc etc

Essentially due to the high cost of the fine cast model I never bought one, the stats look fun and I have the components to cobble a couple in plastic at some point, which will probably happen in a few years time when all the Hobbit stuff has calmed down!

Definitely the wallet friendly way of doing things! And as much as I like the pose of the original, you really don't wan't to many looking the same!
