Can anyone recommend some good heroes from durins folk, to lead iron guard, (excluding gimli ). I have considered dain and floi, are these two good? Do you recommend any others. |

Durin...worth every point. He is a tank. The difference between dain and durin shouldn't be an issue. How come you want to exclude gimli? That's who I'd use although I do sometimes run a shieldbearer. |

I'm not a fan of Dain for his F5. Floi is very good, but he's a support hero. Get a big combat hero first. The King's Champion is a real beast and can make those Iron Guard the most deadly warband ever! Durin + banner + spear support ("6" attacks O.o) is always a good option |

Balin's a great hero and better then Gimli in nearly every way, Floi and Dain are both good heroes as are the majority of Durin Folk heroes. Floi's special rule can be incredibly helpful against something like a shade/Goblin King. However I agree with SouthernDunedain in that Durin is an absolute tank, in the games I've fielded him he's certainly never died and I think he's only taken one wound in all of them put together, although I do have a fair bit of luck with his 6+ save . Personally I would go for Durin or Balin though as they are both survivable and cut through troops with +1 to wound, with Balin being a budget option. Billy Forgot about the kings champion, another great hero but personally I think he's better served with Khazad guard or Vault wardens for a solid def 9 line. |

Balin with durin's axe (or gimli) durin is strong either. king's champion eiter. Dain is weaker than durin because op F5 and the horn of durin is very good and his axe either. (and his crown) L New post, Denizen: I tought you could only have one re-roll |

-Bolg- wrote: New post, Denizen: I tought you could only have one re-roll You can only re-roll one dice once. But he has 4 to chose from! Also he's axe just mentioned 're-roll one dice' not 'counts as in range of a banner' so imo it just ads up, no? |

I wouldn't worry about time lines with Gimli and Iron Guard. They have the same fighting styles, i.e. charging in with loads of attack whilst flinging in a throwing axe! |
