Plan behind this list is to have the rangers heroic march (with the captain) to capture objectives using their special rule to get to hard to reach places. Bowfire will be used to soften up whatever comes their way and snipe whatever I can. The rest is just a wall of defence 6/7 dwarves battering the enemy around, using Balin's special rule to rob priority and get all the fights in my favour. Dwalin will bring some serious pain, taking out the bigger enemy threats but making sure he stays alive to take advantage of his fearlessness. It's also super cool having Dwalin and Balin in the same force.

12x Warriors of Erebor (6x shield, 6x spear)
Warrior of Erebor (banner)
12x Grimhammers
Dwalin
Balin
Dwarf Captain
12x Dwarf Ranger (12x bow)

Comes out between 550 and 600 points. I have all these models but could do with some help filling in the remaining points. I have heard Grimhammers aren't great but I think the throwing axes will be good fun on the charge and I have the models so why not?

Thanks for any input.

Because 5+ isn't fun? :)

I would just get more Warriors of Erebor. 12 of these instead of 12 Grimhammers will save you 24 points. That's a banner...

Note that your army is illegal as it is now. Since Dwarf Rangers come from another army list than Erebor you need to correct the bow limit. So I'm sorry to inform you only 4 of your 12 Rangers can be equiped with bows.

Wonderful.... :E

Thanks for the heads up, but what a bummer! Stuck with throwing axes.

Not necessarily, you can include Warriors of Dale with bows, and you can naturally utilise the spearmen to support them. I would be tempted to keep half your Grim Hammers and replace half of them with Erebor spearmen to back them up. Also, you will have an excess of points to splash out on a banner etc.

Here's a new list, pretty much sticking to the same principal but with a few goodies.

Dwalin
12x WoE, spear

Balin (Moria)
12x Dwarf Warrior, shield

Dwarf Captain with shield
8x Dwarf Ranger, bow
2x Vault Warden
Dwarf warrior, banner bearer

Input appreciated. The vault wardens will be used to hold small buildings in the objective games I enjoy playing.

Thanks

Your last warband is illegal. Remember Vault wardens are a pair. They count as two models in a warband. so you have 13 warriors in your last warband. Bow limit is fine though.
