Has anyone had experience with these guys yet in points match games? Is the low model count, defence, courage much of a problem? I was thinking of starting with Yazneg, Fimbul and Narzug as my heroes, they look pretty solid. The warriors are what im not sure about though. Are mounted hunter orcs worth their points? What about bows? Hunter orcs on foot seem pretty deadly and basic fell wargs could be useful , would I be best loading up on these? |

Well, I think that Hunter Orcs mounted on Fell Wargs are one of the least points efficient units in the game, and I'm a defender of the new Mirkwood Spiders. You could still use a handful led by Fimbul or Yazneg with lance, but keep them at the back. If you're going pure Hunter Orc you'll want plenty of the infantry, and either go 50% bows or no bows at all. You can use spare points to field leaderless Fell Wargs as well. |

I actually like mtd hunter orcs, I generally take 6 in my army. The knockdown is always nice as is the extra movement. I do tend to take a lot more dudes on foot tho, I love them. Fimbul is a great hero, fv5 means he beats generic man captains and equals those new pesky elves. |

Is there no sneaky "dismount" tactic that can be used with HOoFW's? I have an image of orcs using the wargs as mobility aids, benefiting from the initial charge, and then dismounting to get their 2 attacks, and have a chance of the warg sticking around to cause further havoc... |

Sounds interesting but is it worth 8pts to get off one cavalry charge? The models I have at the moment BTW are: 12 Hunter orcs on fell wargs, all with hand weapons 6 hunter orcs, hand weapons 4 hunter orcs, bows 2 hunter orcs, 2 handed weapons I will probably next get Fimbul and Narzug. Then afterwards Yazneg and another box of hunter orcs on foot and maybe finally some fell wargs. |

Sounds interesting but is it worth 8pts to get off one cavalry charge? Well, the idea behind it is that as well as getting a cavalry charge you'd have the versatility associated with warg movement, plus, remember that when you dismount a warg the warg takes a courage test, and if it passes, sticks around to fight. So then you'd suddenly have twice as many models, and 3 attacks instead of 2 each turn. Ok, I realise that's presuming that all wargs would pass said courage test, which is unlikely as their courage is pretty crappy. Anyway, I have no idea if it's worth it or not! |
