At the local store there is a huge discount on Khand stuff. 2 Chariots, some horsemen, some archers and some blisters if I remember correctly. And I was wondering how they perform in the Hobbit SBG compared to the LotR SBG. Also can they ally with Dunlendings and would this be of any use? I love the look of Khand and i was wondering if they'd be useful to help Dunland. They lack spearmen which Dunland could certainly use. But they do offer a nice looking mobile contingent. And a lot of firepower. On a youtube podcast I did hear archery is nowhere as good as it was in the Lotr SBG? Is this correct? |

I'm with Gilcris on this one. Their aesthetic is definitely not for me. As to their usefulness with Dunland, I suppose their archery and cavalry could fill some gaps in a pure Dunland force, but IMO they're almost worthless. Nothing of theirs is spectacular and the one thing that could have been, the chariot, is very very limited. Again IMO Harad or Easterlings would serve you far better |

Easterlings are my favs. Hence... the need to change it up a bit. >_> Also my painting has dramatically improved since then. It was my 2nd finished painted army... it's... It shames me. >_> Easterlings and Khamul rock though. I loved their Byzantine/Parthian edge mixed with regal looks and hardcore discipline. The Khands... it's the backbanners and torso armor i love. Very Japanese. The mix with a hint of mongol/hun tickles the historian in me... |

I'm specialized in the Military Orders and late Middle Ages hence the Swan Knights tickle my fancy... they're over the top but they're the closest thing to 'The Glorious Charge' the way i envision it. And hate Harad. Well love-hate Harad. I see what everyone sees in them but they're not my 'style'. |

To answer your questions, Khand perform a ton better in Hobbit SBG and are actually playable. The fact that two-handed weapons can now be supported means they can be the front of an Easterling Phalanx. Also they take little risk with the Piercing Strike rule because their defense is already so little. Also their Chariots gained Barge and Rend which is a nice boost. Archery did get nerfed a bit but it was necessary. It hardly hurt Khand though because Easterlings have 50% bow limits They can ally with Dunland since they are in the same book, but only the Easterlings would work with them. Honestly, Uruk Hai are a better ally to Dunlendings since they are in the same list and they also have strength 4. And they have Pikes too, so your not losing anything. |

khand king is pretty potent for the cost... a man almost hundred points with fight 6 its huge and specially with an elven blade... and above all he counts as a banner... |

Aaah the eternal problem of the miniature collector... to buy or not to buy. I do love the Khandish Kings model. *rubs chin* I just checked the Easterling line... I never realized they updated the cavalry and Amdur on horseback. ... No. Desist. Must not... get... more... Easterlings... |

Every Evil list can ally with every other Evil army list. Same with Good. And Khand are Fight 4, which is good. Also, the Horsemen, Chieftains and Kings are OOP |

How I would use Khand: King on chariot chiefs on chariot chiefs on horses This way you get cheap f5/6 heroes who have a banner effect goin for them and some monster stirkes in there Also you don't have to buy many models wink wink |

Therefore if you purchase a full warband of 13 guys (12+Hero), and 6 of them die, that particular warband is broken despite your army in general not being broken. I like the idea since it creates more of a Codex feel for the races and makes it feel like there are 5 races and not just 2 (Good and Evil) |

Yeah well... I have no group. I'll be bringing in the 2 forces for a casual game. So Dunland + something vs something. I'm getting some Orcs and Isengard + Gondor from my brother's fiancées father so i'll be revamping them and using them probably but the core will be 2 factions I paint and prepare myself. Lotr SBG and War of the Ring are dead over here. Very dead. But there are people who just like games overall and thus are always willing to give somethign a try |

I share the same feeling with you about lotr SBG being dead here as well.. But yea I would make even if its a small force, for example, get some khandish king with some horsemen and another chieftain on chariot (those are D7 3 wounds) and monster cav. It would be fairly cheap groups with alot of punch.... |

Gonna head of to the store tomorrow to practice the Lord of the Rings LCG for a tournie we're having in the coming months... will pick them up most likely. Or some Swan Knights if they have a substantial amount of them. Either way... i'll have painting to do! |

I think a pure Khand army would look great! Surely SBG isn't about what is the most competitive or most broken, but making themes work as best they can and enjoying recreating middle-earth? If I wasn't so in love with Rohan, I would maybe have gone for an all cavalry/chariot Khandish list for fun! f4 troops with axes/2 handed, cheap f5/6 heroes, chariots which count as monstrous cavalry… I think it'd be a fun army! All on it's own Keep Dunland separate! Another good, fun army that looks great but is very rare |

Well i eventually didn't pick up the Khand forces. I may eventually but atm i went for some Uruk Hai and a triumvirate of Uruk Hai men. As i so love the Dunland models i want to first focus on adding a small band of Isengard followers to support them. |
