Hey guys, got a tournament coming up in 2 weeks and I need to finalise my list. I've narrowed it down to 3 and cant really include more than I have in the list. Few Notes: 1-At that pt level keep the witch king with 20 will I think. 2-Too many orcs, and no morannons? You need killing power and defense. Against elf bows youre going to be shot to pieces and against dwarf defense you will be hacked to pieces and not kill them. Personally id love to see those orcs with an army I would field for a tournemant. You got like 60 orcs, and if I make a 750 pt isengard I can easily fit 50+ models so at 1000 just imagine. Just an example. 3-I like the troll chieftan in there to add something special to the mix. 4-Maybe you dont own the piece, but Shagrat, war leader is a fantastic model for a large game. Hes like 25 less pts than Gothmog. Gothmogs special rule is awesome though and I wouldnt tell you to take him out. Just mentioning it. |

My list W1 Saruman on horse (leader) 8x Berserkers 3x Uruk with Pike 1x Uruk with Banner Grima on horse W2 Uruk Capt with Heavy Armour and Shield 6x Berserkers 6x Uruk with Pike W3 (herpaderp copy and paste) Uruk Capt with Heavy Armour and Shield 6x Berserkers 6x Uruk with Pike W4 Mauhur 12x Uruk Marauders with sheilds. =999pts, 53 models So Matt is going Dol Amroth (50% Knights), Mark will be using Army of the dead(with elf spear support) + Ents i think hes doing this, Ted is using the most deadly list of all: Elrond- 6# rivendell knights Shields Rivendell knight captain- Shield 6# rivendell knights Shields Gwahir- 1# great eagle- Gandalf the white- Shadowfax Elven cloak Hes played it against Matt and Myself and cleaned us off the table very easily. Hope that gives a little bit of an idea of what your coming up against. |

Of all the lists I agree that list 2 is the best, it's the only one with any killing punch with the Troll Chieftain. But as LordoftheBrownRing said you would benefit from Morranons so you can kill the Uruks and heavily armored enemies you'll be facing. Just from the Isengard list shown I'd expect you to be tabled. Your best defense (excluding heroes) is D5 with only strength and FV 3. You'll have a hard time killing Uruks and those Zerkers for example will kill your Orcs on a 3 or 4 depending on if they go 2-hander or not. All that being said I understand the list idea, swarm-esque but your heroes prevent that because they're such point sinks. If you're only fielding Orcs you need to outnumber that Isengard list nearly 2:1 as you're nearly half his points compared to a standard Uruk. Also a note to you all: please crush that "powerful list" it's not that deadly and I hate seeing mediocre lists hailed as dominant lol |

I should have provided at least some context for my previous statement. admittedly that was a 3-way battle with modified Hold Ground rules to allow for to account for well... a third opposing army. Where 1 point is awarded for every model killed to encourage a total blood bath basically + some other things. Still a WIP scenario. Totally just realised while typing that how much that favours low model elite/monster armies. any how, I digress. I Basically entered play on top of the Elves. long story shot, knights, Natures wrath = steam rolled uruks. He cleaned me off the table then fought out Dol Amroth for the centre winning just by mass kill points. In subsequent 5 objective mission scenario he didn't go so well. Im falling asleep at the computer so i cant type any more. I will have my revenge! That I assure you! |

General: Witch King 3/20/3 Warband: 6 morannons with shield + 6 with spear/shield = 102 Hero: Shagrat War Leader Warband: 6 morannons with shield + 6 with spear/shield = 102 Hero: Orc Shaman Warband: 6 morannons with shield + 6 with spear/shield = 102 Hero: Orc Taskmaster Warband: 6 morannons with shield + 6 with spear/shield = 102 Hero: Mordor Troll Chieftan Warband: 6 Regular orcs shield + 6 with spear = 72 Heros: 510 Troops: 480 990 with 10 to spare for some upgrade of some sort. You have killing power in all your troops. You have a beast in the trolls chieftan. You have serious magic in the wraith. Shagrat has a lot of might will fate and his combat skills are almost unmatched for that pt cost. Honestly though, you can take some pts off and use a named wraith and get a special ability too. Thats probably the changed I would make if I wanted to make an army your style. |

I think the idea behind the Witch King is to counter my mounted Saruman lol and all the armies of wizard clones that are going to be running about on the day.  |
