So my one opponent and I are chugging through weekly games. For some reason, I have no idea why, we're consistently playing 800pts. Is that an appropriate level?

Here's my Galadhrim Force with some allied monsters since I've yet to try out the new monster rules!

Warband 1: 234
Rumil
11x Guard of the Galadhrim Court
Galadhrim Warrior w. Banner

Warband 2: 175
Haldir w. Bow, Armor
5x Galadhrim Warrior w. Shields
5x Galadhrim Warrior w. Bows, Spears

Warband 3: 174
Storm Caller
6x Galadhrim Warrior w. Shields
6x Galadhrim Warriors w. Bow, Spears

Warband 4: 215
Gwaihir
Eagle

Too bland?

Points dont really matter...in the sense that as long as you and your opponent have the same amount then it is "fair".

I like it! though who would be your leader, since no one is a heavy hitter (3,3,3,3,3 stat line)? Gwairhir?

I tend to use Rumil as my leader since he's the best in duelist and looks really sharp on the table.

I like that a lot. Rumil backed by pikes can take on anything, and the eagles should be fun (though I'm still building mine, so no practical experience yet).

Since my only opponent is Isenguard I thought getting some eagles in the army would be a strong addition.

I like it. The only thing is no one is very survivable. None of your heroes can possibly take more than 3 wounds (save Gwaihir)

Great list. 800 pts is fine. Fun size for me. I like 760-850 the best.

Can someone tell me why Galadhrim aren't considered a competitive tournament army? Its a dream to travel to G.B. one day to compete in a LOTR tournament!

Just MHO, but pure Galadhrim suffer from having equipment that you have to pay for but often does nothing. D4 is a poor spot because evil has lots of S4 warriors, and it's no improvement against evil shooting which is either S2 or S4. Nothing really beats a WE spear for tactical flexibility. You can support or shield, so you're almost always rolling 2 dice in a fight. Galadhrim don't have an equivalent unless you field Guards, which are expensive. Galadhrim have no alternate missile weapons (throwing daggers), and lastly have no interestingly-powered models like the Sentinel. Pure WE, or 1/3 Galadhrim backed by 2/3 WE fare far better.

I don't think they're uncompetitive at all. And here's my book on why lol

Firstly D4 base is useful, as most evil armies (save for Isengard) have primarily S3 models. For Mordor its Orcs, Moria its Goblins, Haradrim, Easterlings etc. Sure there are far more Evil S4 then there used to be, but there's still plenty of S3 out there to benefit from the +1 Defense against. Also taking a shield to become D5 negates this problem by making you go up a "step" in how hard you are to kill against S4 enemies, so either way you're in good standing.

Galadrhim are IMO the most forgiving elven force as you'll have far more numbers than High Elves, but won't require as much tight control tactically as Mirkwood Elves. You also have very good elites (the aforementioned Guards) and Knights, so you can bring F5 cavalry to bear against your enemy, which is no small thing.

In terms of heroes you have the best selection of all the Elf lands, Combat Juggernaut Celeborn (fully outfitted) and Galadriel in her protectress form (which is unfortunately a Indie hero). Great mid-level heroes in Haldir and Rumil, and Galadriel in her standard form for good magic, as well as storm callers and captains. So you have versatility. Also note, Guards with Haldir/Rumil are a very nasty combo as the hero may feint without losing their F6 as the guards will provide that, in essence making them a 3-4 attack hero with poison in CQC.

Also remember that unarmored Wood Elves are fully "fluffy" for a force from Lothlorien as you saw in the Fellowship that not all their warriors are armored up at all times, so if you choose to you can always add in WE's for tactical flexibility.

I still believe wood elves make the better bang for your buck - they are relatively cheap in comparison to elites and other elves yet have fight 5 and courage 5 which means they can beat most elites! I however do like to take the fore mentioned 2/3 wood elves, 1/3 galadhrim because its adds balance especially when you add a few guards of the galadhrim court which chop up trolls and heroes!
However Galadhrim have the best mid price heroes in Haldir and Rumil I believe!
