Another Attempt what you think...

Warband 1
Hunter orc Captain
2 hunter orcs on fell warg
4 hunter orcs
4 hunter orcs with 2 handed weapons


Warband 2
Narzug

3 hunter orcs with bow
2 hunter orcs with 2 handed weapons

Don't give Heroes two-handed weapons, it's a silly idea and waste of points. Drop it and the 2 bows and get an extra Warrior.

Because Captains are for winning fights, not killing, since they're the same strength as regular Hunter Orcs, its better to give a couple of them 2-handed weapons. The Captain wins the fight and the Hunter Orcs with 2-handers do the killing.

The last Hunter Orc captain leads no troops, I removed him from the list in favour of more orcs.

I would take out all the mounted orcs. They're a waste of points. If you want add more regular wargs for speed and more hunters on foot. They cost waaaay too much on a warg. They get 2 attacks on foot and if charged 1 on warg. Ridiculous oversight by games workshop.

well hunter orcs are surely expeensive on wargs but still they hold some advantages.

While on warg they can remove enemy cav bonus charging your orcs on foot, also can´t be knock out if they lose combat as well as getting a bit more inches for bow shooting(Not thats worth much)

On your side you also need some knock out factor anyway and they work for it, also a good way to give some protection to the orc vs shooting by giving 50/50 to stay alive and not get shoot...

Those are all true advantages but 1- hunter or shooting affects your force negatively. You want them in close quarters as much as and as soon as possible. Plus if you move and shoot they need double sixes to kill on most units.

Also 2- yes they provide an anti cavalry aspect but unless you're playing an all cavalry force then pretty much you just go after their foot section and you out number and attack them. Then when their cavalry cokes in you swarm them easily. Hunter orcs stats and weapons can kill anything in the game. If you get cavalry that's super heavy you can still kill it if not focus on their soft units.


Finally....it kind of kills what hunter orcs are best at. Swarm. Swarm swarm. Each one on a warg is the cost of two regular ones. If you play anyone with a competitive army you're going to get shot off and lose most of them right away anyway.

I'm just speaking from experience having played 5 matches with all hunter or army. That's what I've learned. I've learned now matter who you play rush em with tons of attacks.

All mounted elves or rohan is the biggest competitor for these forces. Having soft defense and getting shot up before combat and outran.

Other than that though even an all mounted force that is close quarters will only kill so many of these guys before they can counterattack and kill everything.

well thats true...

I suppose mostly there just good to keep it fluff and go with an army general..

Prob Ill try the hunting pack that was after thorin in the 1st movie, all mounted with fell wargs, aint competitive, but surely its fun :)

For if youre playing for fun theme wise, then sure go for it! It will look great and still hurt them with attacking power. They always will. Theyre powerful troops.

For fluff its perfect.

Id still take the wargs alone out though. I never find they help win much.

I think the wargs are expensive and that rule they got, hardly apply unless its cave fight which is the most obvious thing I can think at or night fight, which either hardly players play...

The fell sight rule can be used to charge models with elf cloaks :twisted: so not that useless ;)

well you can charge the ringbearer anyway but you have to take a courage test with a -1 modifier for each inch you are away.
