Hey people,
I'm kind of a newbie at actually building armies - in the past I've more opted for the "chuck whatever into the army and see how it works out" kind of style... I've got a few matches coming up with friends, so I searched through the forums for some ideas, and I've just thrown together this 500pt-er

Any tips/hints/abuse is welcome ;P

Warband 1 12/12
Uruk-hai Captain with Shield; Heavy armour;
6 Uruk-hai Warrior with Shield;
6 Uruk-hai Warrior with Pike;

Warband 2 12/12
Vraskû
10 Uruk-hai Warrior with Crossbow;
2 Uruk-hai Warrior with Shield;

Warband 3 5/12
Uruk-hai Shaman with Armour;
5 Uruk-hai Berserker

No idea what I might be facing, apart from it could be either Gondor, Dwarves, Elves or Moria.

Basic plan:
- Vrasku + X-Bows to hang back and unload,
- Shaman goes with main bulk with fury,
- Beserkers help with some extra dice rolls in fights (Plus, surround enemy hero when/if they get transfixed by Shaman).
- Captain goes in with might, and does what he does best (past experience, he dies... Apparently, my dice suck big hairy ones).

Move the 2 warriors with shield to another warband, they are going to find more use there.

About the captain, do you have Mauhur or Ugluk? I find them both a lot better than a regular captain. 10 points more for a lot of extra stuff.
Especially Mauhur with his A3 and extra movement gets it done.

Other than that I think you're pretty fine. Not sure about the Berserkers, Feral Uruk-hai are just that little better but that's a matter of taste.

Keep it up!

Once more the eternal discussion, Uruk captain or ugluk?
For me on 500 pts
uruk cap=mauhur>ugluk
Depends on gameplay too.

Thanks for the tips.
The two extra warriors in Vrasku's warband were shoved in there at the end, so, yeah, they'll be moved with the beserkers.

Mauhur has A3, yeah - But I was thinking the cap might be better as he's got D7 (while upgraded), while Mauhur and crew only have D5 (a silly thing, in my opinion...)

As for the feral uruks Vs Beserkers - Ferals have less defense and courage.. so I'm not sure on your reasoning?

Well for one get Mauhur he's a small point more with 3 attacks. Two I would still take ugluk if you don't want Mauhur over the captain. Ppl always hate on ugluk. Guess what he has 1 more might than a regular captain and guess what...your shaman kills your might count......you'll blow KT on the channeled fury immediately anyway.

He meant to say "MT" for might I believe.
IMO the captain with heavy armor is better even with the One less might point. Vrasku has you covered there well enough and the Captain can just take a beating

Indeed uruk's cap warband does not need speed (heroic actions) its a solid base that awaits the enemy (which will be probably broken trying to move through 10 bolts :P ) and is going to delay em as the berserkers move from behind and punch em.

Ah, that makes more sense.
Yeah, that was my reasoning with going with the Uruk Cap :P

That's essentially the plan! Haha
