Hey guys, I've been thinking about this Mordor force for a while now and i thought I'd post it up here to get a few opinions on it. Warband 1 - 257 points Mordor Troll Chieftain (Army leader) 10 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) 1 Morannon orc with banner Warband 2 - 143 points Mordor orc Shaman 11 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) Warband 3 - 195 points Mordor orc Shaman (with warg) 5 orc trackers (all with wargs) 3 morgul knights (1 with war horn) Total - 595 points, 33 models, 5 bows I think the real weakness with this list is the lack of bows, but as Mordor's range support is so bad I don't see what can be done about it. Cheers |

why not replace something with a nazgul or three other than that looks great put in the shadowlord or a dragon it will help against almost any good army |

I think you def. lack might in this list, maybey change the troll chieftain to gothmog (or another 3 might orc) who fitts well in the morannon theme and can accompany the wargs. |

Troll chieftain is a beast, i d not suggest to change him. Better change the Mordor orc Shaman (with warg) because you have only 33 models (low number for mordor 600). You dont have offensive magic, hardly a mordor list wins without nazgul. Morgul knights often fail cause they are really expensive. |

Quinndalf wrote: put in the shadowlord or a dragon He has to change more than half of his army to take a dragon and I think he postet this army, because he wanted to play something like it and nor a totaly different list I'd say take a mounted ringwraith 2/0/1 instead auf one shamane and the the horn (should fit perfactly). The real adcantage of a shamane is kepping your orcs from running away after you are broken and one is enough to do that (by the way a nazgul is good at it too). You could get problems with heroic striking heros, trying to kill your troll captain, but with transfix you can beat them easily. |

Thanks for the advice, I agree a Ringwraith on Fell beast could be useful, particularly against cavalry but i had to drop the troll to fit it in. I did lack might so i dropped the shaman on warg (saved me having to attempt a painful conversion) for Gorbag and i decided to keep the warhorn because my troops aren't always going to be within range of the shaman or Ringwraith. Here's the revised list. Warband 1 - 285 points Ringwraith on Horned fell beast (2 Might, 2 Fate) 5 Orc trackers (all on wargs) 3 Morgul knights (1 with warhorn) Warband 2 - 167 points Gorbag (with Shield) 10 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) 1 Morannon orc (with banner) Warband 3 - 144 points Orc shaman 11 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) Total - 596 points, 33 models, 5 bows |

I forgot tha orc trackers can ride wargs! Ooooh sh..... This makes a really good cavalry model. Satisfying shooting in a mordor army and a model that can actually win fights (without the charge there was no way). The rider can use warg's stats so he boosts there a lot too. |

Remember he is loosing a will per turn if he is in combat and you want to cast a few spells with him and have to keep one will point so he stays on the field for his harbringer of evil and stand feast. BaronLee wrote: i decided to keep the warhorn because my troops aren't always going to be within range of the shaman or Ringwraith And your Morgul Knight with horn can die, if you leaf him somewhere far away you pay 40 points for +1 c. You nearly could buy a second shamane for this, but a shamane and a ringwraith realy should do it. As I said I'd play the ringwraith on horse instead of Gorbag and the horn and switch the ringwraith on fellbeast against your troll chief. |

[quote="Frêrin"] a ringwraith on fellbeast! Remember he is loosing a will per turn if he is in combat [quote] Isn't this only Khamul's rule? I don't think it's about every unnamed ringwrath.. |

Yeah, I was going to try to model them with axes so they can piercing strike. |

Valadorn wrote: Isn't this only Khamul's rule? I don't think it's about every unnamed ringwrath.. It's the special rule "the will of evil" every ringwraith has. So you see seven will is way to little. I don't like tracers on wargs.Your foe can shoot them realy easy (if you don't hide them, but if you do so, you can't shoot either) and if the loose only one close combat (which is not that unlikely with F3) they die realy fast (and the warg is running away most times). Thinking about wargs running away, I'd like to see an army with many orctracers on wargs and druhag casting his fury before all of the tracers dismount. This would gives you a wild warg and a tracer for two points less and your brake point isn't changed. |

Thanks again for the advice guys . Frêrin wrote: Take your troll instead. 7 will is way to little for a ringwraith on fellbeast! It had slipped my mind, 7 will is definitely not enough will. Quinndalf wrote: you could help the trackers with the shadow lord on horse. he command's it 'AS MY LORD COMMANDS!'. That makes sense, as the trackers have such bad defense and i was trying to fit a Ringwraith in the list anyway. Here's the reworked list - Warband 1 - 257 points Mordor Troll Chieftain (Army leader) 10 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) 1 Morannon orc with banner Warband 2 - 143 points Mordor orc Shaman 1 Black Guard of Barad-Dur 10 Morannon orcs (5 with spear, all with shield) Warband 3 - 196 points The Shadowlord (with horse) 6 Orc trackers (with warg) Total 600 points |
