Post subject:  Elite Mordor Army

I'm sick of using evil horde armies so I thought I'd try some thing that was a little more elite, any suggestions for improvements

Warband 1 12/12
The Undying with armoured horse;
6 Morannon Orc with Shield; Spear;
5 Black Guard of Barad-dûr
1 Spectre

Warband 2 12/12
Kardûsh the Firecaller
1 Orc Warrior with Banner
6 Orc Warrior w/ shields and one w/ Spear (only because I had 7 spare points)
5 Warg Rider with Orc bow; Shield;

Warband 3 12/12
Shagrat, War Leader of Cirith Ungol
6 Morannon Orc with Shield; Spear;
5 Black Guard of Barad-dûr
1 Spectre

Break points 19, Might 6

The idea here being that the two blocks of Black Guard act as the main fighting force, the wargs fulfil your cavalry role and cap objectives and the normal orcs are used by Kardush to generate more will points. The hope is to use the synergy of the Undyings Arcana leech and Kardush's will generation to keep a constant supply of spells coming whilst Shagrat does his thing with the black guard

I have played almost every variety of Mordor Army, I too don't like using a horde of orcs all the time.

I have played blocks of BG and Morannon together and have never had luck. eventually orcs die, forces break, and they get wiped from the board.
They do very good at intimidating the good guys (I don't know why) they are strong of course. But, for the points, morannon blocks are better than the BG are I have found.

Because you have split them up and are using cheaper support you may find the force works for you. 36 troops is about average, so I am sure your opponent will try to knock out your orcs first and go for breaking or to fight BG without support so they have an advantage. I am not sure what the spectre will bring to the warbands, so that may be interesting. it is tough, with orcs against most forces you find that you miss the numbers once you start taking losses and can't fill the gaps. Banners can help with this sometimes, as it helps make up for less numbers when you can fit them in.

all that said, I encourage you to try it and many other varieties of Mordor Forces (Mordor Uruk-hai are pretty solid when tossed with regular orcs) as well as allies. It makes Mordor a very fun army to have so much to choose from.
