I plan on starting a hunter orc army in the near future and I like to collect to an army list (350 points btw), so I thought I’d throw this out there. Just wondering whether you guys think it’s competitive and what improvements I could make. Thanks in advance for the help . Warband 1 Leader-fimbul warg 3 hunter orcs 3 wargs 1 bow 8 hunter orcs 3 bows 2 two handed weapons Warband 2 narzug warg 3 hunter orcs 3 wargs 1 bow 7 hunter orcs 2 bows 2 two handed weapons |

Your layout of the army list is kind of confusing, by 3 hunter orcs 3 wargs do you mean that they're 3 hunter orcs on wargs? If so then i'd want to put all the mounted wargs in with Fimbul so that they can all move together. Otherwise looks like a pretty decent list. I find it hard to make a very competitive list at 350pts because I find it limits my options slightly but I feel this would fare reasonably well against most lists. |

Yeah it's supposed to be 3 hunter orcs mounted on wargs. I was thinking if I spread the cavalry out it would allow me to react to threats easier, and I kinda wanted some guys to go with narzug-what's the advantage of having 1 warband loaded with cavalry would you say? heroic moves? |

By having your cavalry all in one warband it allows them to be more potent, from personal experience with cavalry splitting them up just gets them killed faster. If they're all together they should be able to mount a solid charge and also it will require less might to ensure they get to charge again the following turn via the use of a single heroic move rather than two. |

On the contary to Gshaw, I usually take 2 mtd hunter orcs per warband and sit them behind the infantry and wait until combat then move them round the side for a flank attack. They are not designed to charge headlong into a shield wall, let the foot troops charge then use the mtd guys to charge banners, spear support etc. Also, if the mtd guys are behind your lines, you dont have to worry about them being counter charged |

True, guess it's down to personal preference. |

All I know is I did a 300 pt Hunter orc army. I used two generic captains for money reasons, and they were on warg. Everyone else was on foot. The army just dominated everything they came into contact with. The rolling wounding, swarming, flanking. If I re did it It take 2 of the three Yazneg and Fimbul first perhaps because Narzugs special rules keeps him shooting and with this army you wanna be in their grill asap and as much as possible. Against ANYTHING in the game. If it was at a higher level of like 500 pts or 750 id probably throw in some orcs on wargs but theyre just so damned expensive....like 4 more points than a regular warg rider.....but if thats all they have so be it. I just know with a 750 pt army you can have SOOO many troops if you go all on foot. |
