I have been working on finishing up my southern armies, buying up some heroes and painting troops but also streamlining my collection overall. While doing so the idea came to me to cut my collection into parts that would make storing and playing themed armies easier. So what I thought to do was make a core force for Gorndor of about 500 points that would be the meat of all my armies basically grunts and captains. Then have swappable addition from 250 to 500 points that have the bigger heroes like Boromir and Aragorn, as well as themed groups like Faramir"s Ranger or the White Company.

What I am worried about with this though that by basically having separate list on the field I'll loss out on points here and there, say a 250 point list only comes to 238 while the 500 point list comes out to 482. Now I know its not a lot of point wasted and I can't really do to much with them but its still a thorn in my side on the field. What do you guys think is it worth exploring further or not? Has anyone done this before, if so how did it work out?
