Hi guys,

I am fairly new to the game but not to wargaming. I started playing Lotr SBG this summer and in a few weeks I will have my first tournament and I need help deciding what to field. I bought a lot of second hand miniatures and therefor I have quite the extensive collection.

The tournament will have a few restrictions:

Good may spend up to 350 points on named hero's and 350 points on monsters.

Evil may spend up to 210 points on named hero's and 210 points on monsters.

These restrictions are set in place because of the high prevalance of evil armies sporting monsters and nazguls.

The army needs to be tailored towards the missions I will be facing:

-Hold Ground

-A domination variant with where you deploy on the long side and have 6 objectives. On a 1-3 you deploy 12' from the board edge and 4-6 12' from the middle line.

-A custom mission with castered deployment: The board is divided in 6 compartments. For each warband you roll where it will deploy.

Pure syngerie armies will not always work with these missions, so I think that each warband should has to be able to function on its on.

And as a last note: Tolkien correctness is highely important in our tournaments, up to 5 points are awarded for Tolkien fluffiness.

What models do I have in my collection:

High Elves:
Elrond
Glorfindel

11 Elves with shield
11 Elves with Bow

Lorien Elves and Mirkwood:
Armoured Celeborn
Galadriel
Rumiel
Legolas
Haldir with armour
Stormcaller
Captain with bow
Captain on Horse with Shield and Blade (can also function as non captain)

24 Galadrims (8/8/8) split
5 Galadrim Knights (2 shields/2 bows/1 banner)
2 Galadrim banners
1 Warhorn
12 Wood Elves (4/4/4) split

Dwarves:
Dain
Balin
Gimli
Captain
2 Dwarven kings

15 Khazad Guard
2 Iron Guard
3 Warriors with shield
8 Warriors with two-Handed
10 Warriors with bow
1 Warrior with banner
12 Rangers (4 bows)

Numenorean
Elendil
Isilidur
10 Sword and shield
4 Shield and spear

Mordor and angmar:
Witch King on foot both with and without crown
Nazgul on horse (can function as normal Nazgul and Witch-King)
Witch King on Fellbeast with Crown and Horned Fellbeast
Gorbag with Shield
Grishnak with Shield
Shagrat War leader
Shaman
Taskmaster
Troll Chieftain
Shelob
Black Numenorean Marshal
2 Barrow Wight
Gulavhar

36 Orcs (18 spears/18 shields)
12 Morannon Orcs (6/6) split
6 Black Numenoreans on foot
5 Morgul Knights
6 Warg Riders (2/2/2) split and riders are removable
1 Mordor Troll
6 Converted Specters.

I have two lists that I am considering at the moment:

Elves:

Celeborn
-Heavy armour
-Elven Blade
-Shield
6 Spear
6 Shield

Legolas with cloak
4/4/4 wood elves

Haldir with Armour, Cloak and Bow
8 Galadrim with bow
1 Galadrim with spear
3 Galadrim knights with shields

Or

Mordor

Witch-King 3 might 12 will 1 fate
6 Black Numenoreans
6 Orcs with spear

Shagrat War Leader
5 Orcs with spears
6 Morannon Orcs with Shields

Mordor Orc Shaman
6 Orcs with spears
6 Orcs with shields

Mordor Troll Chieftain
5 Orcs with spears
5 Orcs with shields

What do you think about these lists and what type of lists would you build for this tournament?

Sorry for the long post and thanks in advance. :-D :-D

I would suggest dropping one knight and the spear on the galadhrim in favour of some equipment on the heroes. A bow for Haldir, armour for legolas and an elven blade/shield for Celeborn. If you already have the heavy armour/shield/elven blade for celeborn then swap a knight for a Galadhrim with spear or shield and get the equipment for legolas and Haldir.

Celeborn really needs his equipment to function well so it is a top priority to give him it.
The armour for Legolas will help if he gets into combat and the bow on Haldir means he can actually use his special rule.

I like your troop selection it is nicely themed and should be effective on the battlefield. Just remember to use each of your warbands in the way they are meant to be played and have fun!!

Haha I forgot to add the Celeborn's gear and Haldirs bow.

The whole idea of the list was to have two warbands that could put out alot of firepower, namely 7 shots from Legolas's squad and 10 from Haldir's squad, a harder hitting warband with Celeborn and three knights that can roam and help where needed or grab objectives.
