I've been having fun playing around with the army list builder making lists which, for the most part take 3 plastic troop kits and 3 heroes to create a simple starting force. The aim being to total at least 500 points, rounded to the nearest hundered. I've also tried to keep the forces themed, and only using 1 army list each.

Of course some are more potent than others, and one or two bend the self imposed rules a little, but i think most of them would work as a solid base to expand on for most of the forces. So here come the forces....

Any suggestions on how to mix up the lists? maybe swap some heroes around? Any thoughts on the forces i've left out? any favorites that you'd like to play against/ with?

Did you want like an opinion of these armies, and which we think are better along with tips?

I have tips and responses but Im not sure if youre willing to spend a bit more money on these.

Hey Brownring. I was just toying with the lists and wanted to share a few which, for the most part would be fairly cheap starting points for expanding on in the future.

Basically, i just wanted to see what kinda force you could make with 3 kits of troop models led by three heroes.

haha moria army aint themed, king´s champion there, and yes hes not themed, king´s champion stays with Dain and only comes out to protect his liege and do his bidding and as you know Dain wasnt much on Balin´s expedition favour although he let him go but defnitely wouldnt send his best warrior for that matter. The king´s champion its the king´s will on the field when the king is not presented, hes far more vital to keep the borders of hsi realm safe rather than going into a "suicidal run" as Dain had figured from the start...

I thought he was just a GW invention :S well to keep it themed, replace him with a dwarf captain, banner bearer and a couple more warriors.

He is, but Games Workshop do create their own theme too, they don't, (with few exceptions) just throw something out there.

That's cool i realise they would have had some good fluff in the past, but the current sourcebooks don't really elaborate any further than the small paragraph which accompanies each entry in the list. Good to know though

He is themed enough. It is your game, your models, your theme. That GW invented character can fit in your fluff if you call him "the Lord of Moria's Champion." If there was champions in dwarf realms in middle-earth, each major lord may have one.
