Rohan 350pts

Hi all,

I'm currently building up a Rohirrim army for my first ever tourny! :-D

So I've done some play testing and tweaking and Ive finally come up with the following list. Id really appreciate some constructive criticism here guys, cheers.

Warband 1
- Eomer
/horse
/shield

- 3 x RRG
/horse
/TS
- 2 x RoR
/TS
- 2 x RoR

Warband 2
- Grimbold
- 7 x Helmingas
/shield
/TS
- 3 x Helmingas
/shield

Doesnt look bad, but Id always favor all mounted if I go Rohan. Not just that, but Grimbold isnt the best of heroes. Id prefer to use Eowyn at 350.

What are your intentions with this army?

At 350, this would be my Rohan:

Erkenbrand with Horse
8 Westfold Redshields

Eowyn with horse armor shield Throwing spears
8 Westfold Redshields

16 bows, 18 Units, 5 Might, and absolute mobility.

I don't understand why you would take the foot soldiers tbh, they just die so easily that basically they just help your force to break more quickly

I know they drop like flies, don't ask me why I take infantry I just really like the aesthetic of the Rohan shield wall. I'm trying to take what I like the look of on the battle field and make it competitive-ish!

So do you think that Eowyn say on horse with shield and armour and an extra WoR or two would be preferable to Grimbolds str 4 buff?

Yes Eowyn is the better choice. Since the introduction of special strikes Grimbold has become redundant due to axes being able to piercing strike.

Rohan infantry really need to be horded out to be most effective, but giving all of them throwing spears will definitely help.

As you no doubt know Erkenbrand is a more optimal choice than Eomer and outriders and sons of eorl are the best cavalry options.

All that being said I hope you do well, im not a fan of over-optimizing lists at tree cost of flavor. And tbh it's a negative that such can be done by having a "go to" troop you just spam
