Post subject:  Galadhrim and Isengard armies

Not new to LOTR miniatures but new to actually playing a game with them. I have a bunch of Lothlorien and Isengard models, i'd like to get some ideas of some fun/competitive army lists and formations I could make as well as some useful tactics to keep in mind when playing with them. I want to make a 1000pt list and 1500pt. Here's what i have, and this is for SBG.

Galadhrim-

Celeborn w/armour/shield
Galadriel
Haldir w/armour
Rumil
Guards of Galadhrim-8
Galadhrim captain-2
Galadhrim w/sword-17
Galadhrim w/bow-17
Galadhrim w/spear/shield-8
Galadhrim Knights-6
Wood elf captain-1
wood elves w/sword-8
wood elves w/box-8
woodelves w/spear-8
Galadhrim banner-1
Gildor

Isengard-

saruman
Grima
Lurtz
Ugluk
Vrasku
Uruk-Hai Captain-1
Uruk-Hai banner-1
Fighting Uruk-Hai-20
Fighting Uruk_hai w/pikes-20
Berserker-3
Uruk-Hai scouts-24

Im gona get some warg riders and crossbows too, I appreciate any help. Thanks.

Good start for both armies.

For Isengard you are right, crossbows are good, but most important has to be a shaman... Your fury spell will give your troops (in range) saves against wounds and they will pass all the courage checks they have to take whilst the fury is in play.

Rumil is excellent for the elves!

I would suggest starting off with smaller games (500ish) and build up from there. At 500 points you will be able to play a decent game for a couple of hours and start to learn the rules and how each element of your army works, then build on that.

Also, post which area you live in as there are loads of players who would happily help and at against you.

Hope this helps!

Everything he said is pretty much on point^

Id suggest as a wood elf player to get Legolas, and Thranduil. Easily their best two heroes.

Try to get more berserkers, and x bows for Isengard. And yeah, wargs are important in that list.

Scouts I wouldnt put too much faith in, unless you make them Marauders, but then youd need Mauhur.

Their stat line is meh, but if you upgrade them with the marauder boost 8 inch movement is great for tactical movement.

Otherwise, besides those added notes, theyre straightforward.

I like to pick my enemy apart with some x bows, then smash em with Uruk power in close combat.

Any more questions?

Welcome to the gaming part of the hobby, my personal favorite.

Awesome thanks for the help guys much appreciated, definitely gona get some crossbowman and a shaman as well as a Mauhur now that i know about his stats, not sure if i can post it here but https://www.scribd.com/ has a majority of the source books and some of the white dwarf articles, i was able to download 99% of the books for $9. I'll start off as suggested with 500 pt armies to get the feel of the different units. I have a Legolas but I don't really want to add him or Thranduil to my lists, I realize they're good but it seems like every Elf army has them but im gona try using gildor and some noldorian exiles instead. Im in the process of painting right now and once i get a few games in ill post an actual army list for for both, Im located in San Francisco Bay Area.
