Im considering him in a 750 pt, 20 model limit, heroes and monsters based tournament. I keep fighting with myself if I should take points away from other units for him. Hes ten points more than a troll chieftan(check your sourcebooks guys) Pros': -Fight, Strength, and Defense 7. So heroes are wounding him on 6's still, and often dont match his fight. -3 special rules. -3 might, as much as any troll in the game period. -4 courage....decent for a troll His special rules are great. Of course, throw stones, and terror. But others: -Cant be trapped -Can paralyse models if he wins a fight -Can match strength of enemy and both roll dice...however many more he has is the amount of wounds opponent takes. Thats not that useful most times, but imagine if you caught up to a shade..... even if he rolled the same as you, hes taking 6 wounds. No way he survives. Cons: -High points cost in a 750 pt army ---- Now for the Goblin King- Hes 20 less points than a troll chieftan Pros: -6 fight, 5 strength, 3 might, attacks, and wounds -Blubbery Mass-This is a fate roll of 3+! on every wound he takes -Resistant to Magic -Burly Cons: -Low defense of 5 -Fate is 1, but he does have that rule Seems to me, that Bill is fantastic, but still makes me hesistant. Also, Goblin King seems like a power house in other lists, but in this just falls short a bit. |

Goblin King rules! But I'd also consider Bert! He is cheap an his lingering cold should be really effective against heros. |

The 2-handed weapons with no penalty, blubbery mass, Resistant to magic and monsters skill made the Goblin King a powerhouse against nearly anyone. However, Bill is shamefully cheap for his worth. It cannot be trapped and that alone is extremely good. His special multiwounds-strike is also powerful, considering that he will start with an average +3 bonus. A Troll that cannot be trapped is HUGE. Go for it. |

You seriously can't go wrong with either one. I know that's not helpful, but I guarantee that you are going to get your points worth out of either of them. The other 2 trolls are just as good, Bert for taking down other heroes, Tom for taking out infantry. William is a troll with 3 might that can cause on average 3-4 wounds to most heroes in the game with his special rule. The Great Goblin can easily tank wounds, but he can very easily fall to massed wounds, which isn't that hard with his 5D. |
