Post subject:  Isengard help

I've recently started an Isengard Army and so far I have:
Saruman (Horseback)
Wormtongue
Uruk Captain
Uruk scout X24
Uruk Warriors X30
Beserker X2
Isengard troll (with spear)
Urukhai demolition team.

I also have a few troops I'd be willing to ally with them:

Goblin warriors X24
Metal Harad Cavalry X5

(I'm thinking about getting mauhur for my scouts)

Thanks :gimli:

You definitely want Vrasku, and an Uruk-hai Shaman.
Maybe even another Captain, so that you can have one with Shield and one with Two-Hand (devastating with Strength 5).

Mauhur is a good choice, but Vrasku should have priority over him.

If you are allying in Goblin Warriors, you should consider fielding Ugluk, as he can sacrifice the lousy Goblins in order to gain an automatic 12'' Stand Fast! Some tactics involve just having him hang back or always making sure he is supported by a couple of Goblins, so that they are ready for the cleaver when the time is right.. :)

Do you have Grima on horse as well? I think he is even more useful on horse.

Also perhaps aim for more elites like the Berserker or Feral Uruk-hai (cheaper version)?

How many of your Uruk-hai Warriors have Crossbows?

Also the most important question: how would you like to develop your army? What is your preferred playstyle and tactic?

fielding 24 crossbowmen means that the army should be of at least 72 models..which is hard.

One warband of crossbowmen is perfectly sufficient. you don't want more than that unless you're playing at more than 1200 points. You can convert them from pikemen easily.

I totally agree that 12 is sufficient I said twenty four because I do typically play games involving more than 1200 points.

Thanks, Grima is on foot unfortunately, but I will definitely be buying Mauhur, Vrasku and Possibly A shaman and Ugluk. I currently don't have any crossbows, If I were to buy more elites I think I'd buy Berserkers just because I think they look badass. So far my favourite tactic is first weakening the enemies troops with archers, then sending in Uruk warriors in to use the pike on pike rule, And then mid game sending cavalry/weaker units to flank the opponent.

I hope this helps to give you a better idea as to what I should aim towards.

The only thing I'm worried about is the price of Crossbows, In NZ it's $41 for 4
