I have been thinking about converting some cavalry models to look like those of Numenor. I have seen this a couple places before and I think it should be fairly easy to convert some KoMT into some. The problem I have been trying to solve is what profile (trying to match the stats) to use on the table and was wondering what your thoughts are on the subject. In looking at the profiles this is what I have found. Options A. Erkenbrand and Westfold Redshields are the only way to get the perfect stat line match with shields on the cavalry. However, the riders then all have bows and Erkenbrand has +1 might and the horn which are the only things that don't match up. B. King of Men and Citadel Guards mounted fit the stats well except for the +1 courage on the Citadel Guards. My big problem with this group is that the guards don't have shields. C. King of Men and KoMT. The KoMT have -1 courage and +1 defense but other than that fit well. (Like I said before these are the models I will probably convert due to how similar they are to the Numenor models) D. KoDA Captain and Knights. Couple issues here are the +1 defense and something I found strange is that the knights and the captain share the same fight value and courage of 4. I feel like this should be changed just due to the way all the other troops and captains fight values and courage work across the game. The captains should be +1 in each of those. Now for the questions: 1. Did anyone else notice this mess up with the KoDA Captains? 2. Does anyone else have thoughts on what they would use? 3. Which one of these options would you pick? 4. If someone came to the table with converted models of KoMT and told you they were using the profiles I talked about in option A would you be ok with it? 5. Would a tournament allow it as long as the models are done well and easily Identified? (I ask this because other than the Erkenbrand everything would match perfectly stat wise but I feel if the Numenor captain conversion is done well and with a horn on the model it would make sense.) Thanks in advance. |

I'd probably take (profiles for) Rohan Royal Guard. Cavalry not being typically Númenórean (aside from the heroes, apparently), those few mounted troops would likely be personal guard of the leader. RRG have similar stats to the normal warriors, but Bodyguard (thematically fitting, accepting the above) and heavy armour, something existing in the list for heroes (and thus not strange for elite troops). Other than that, their rules and wargear are fitting with the normal warriors. As for the hero to lead them, I'd convert some guy to be Anárion and use one of the named Rohan heroes (F5, 3 Might) to represent him. As you say, option A) forces them to have bows, B) lacks shields (otherwise my personal preference), C) have lances and only F3, D) have lances and armoured horses, something the named Númenórean heroes have no access to. There is no hard and fast rule concerning tournaments.. if clearly done for thematic purposes and to add some variety to the force, the organisor may allow it. If using them as Eorl the Young and Sons of Eorl (some of the stronger choices available), possibly not. Simply always check beforehand. |

Yeah, the problem I have with using Rohan Royal Guard profile is what happens when they get dismounted? Now I have to convert an extra foot model to be the difference between the normal Numenor troops and this "elite" one where as using the Redshield profile I can just place a regular Numenor troop down and never have to think twice making it easy for me and my opponent. |

You know you can just drop the bows from the riders right? You'll still pay for them but at the start of the game declare that they have all dropped their bows and your problem is solved. |

Yes, this is true. I don't mind them have bows all that much I guess since I wouldn't be doing it for the bows. It just gives them more versatility which I like in cavalry. I guess my big concern in that portion is if players would be ok with me using the Erkenbrand profile on a unit that is not Erkenbrand and does not look like him but looks like a Numenor Captain or King. |

I don't know why, but citadel guard mounted (or citadel guard in general) just feel right to me, like they belong in the list. I'm not sure why, but that's just how I feel. |

Honestly man the running cost for Rohan and other forces horses are _ points. I wont say obviously but a basic man of numenor + the horse cost is 13 pts for mtd numenor cav and Id def be willing to play against them. I mean man....You have NO options on that list. Its fair. |

I'd been considering this myself to be honest. What I was thinking was using the SkoDa profile and the skoda models, simple torso swap, maybe headswap for the horse and have then led by a cappytan. |

The only thing I don't like about the KoDA is that the captains fight value is the same as the normal Knights. Also they are kind of high on the points cost. |
