Thanks, Josh and Elessar :)

I'll try and get the Nob finished today. :)

No updates on Mr. Ugly Green Nob. I have been stricken with painter's block--if I pick up a brush for more than 10 minutes at a time, I can't stand it. I just couldn't bring myself to do the finicky details on the Nob. However, here's an Ork Boy I've managed to get some paint on over the past 2-3 days.

I'm hoping this is only temporary, because I'm expecting a whole lot more miniatures to sell in the mail today. :)

8) Looks good so far, but some of the recesses on the skin look too dark in comparison to the overall shade of the skin.

Thanks guys.

Corsair, if you're specifically only interested in the Marines from AOBR, I'm looking to trade them off in my trade thread. :)

If you mean his arms, on the arm with the slugga it's because I can't reach it and on the sword arm it's shadow. 8)

Hey Josh, when are we going to see more of the Imperial Guard Commissar?
He was looking really good last time you posted pics of him and I wondered if you'd got any further with him. :)

A major accident occured.

This happened the day before yesterday, btw.

I was in there working on my Cities of Death board--spraying some battle damage with black paint on my Shrine of the Aquila--when disaster struck.

My cat, who we shall call "Ray", came in through the door, which I had left open for ventilation purposes. Ray immediately jumped up and knocked over the glass jar I had full of Non-Acetone Nail Polish remover. This spilled all over the neglected side of my table, which had some old Rohirrim, a couple of primed Ork Boyz.....and my Commissar.

I immediately ran for some paper towels, and when I came back, I managed to mop the mess up. This took about 10 minutes or so--all the time it took to take the paint off of the bottom right half of the Commissar's trench coat, most of the fingers of his gun hand, and his nose. (Really)

So yes, I've learned 2 things: Keep cats away from hobby area and DON'T LEAVE NAIL POLISH REMOVER WHERE IT CAN BE KNOCKED OVER!

Ray just sat there the whole time staring at me.

:kitten:

So, I will probably completely strip the Commissar and start over in a couple of weeks. Right now I'm busy painting Gandalf the White & some Warg Riders to sell. But after that, I'll tackle my (very small) backlog. :D

I never knew before now how effective that Nail polish remover is.

What a shame! :o

I know how bad cats can be, I was taking pictures of some of Iron Guard for here on OR, and my cat Leo jumped up and began to chew on ones head! Yes, cat's are best kept away from the hobby...

Be sure to update with your progress on him. 8)

Cat+Hobby=Disaster.

A real shame to, the Commisar looked well painted.

My cat "Monaco" has been responsible for several 'accidents' over the last few years. The worst was when I saw she had something in her mouth, I then discovered it was a model tree which I had spent the last 3 hours carefully basing, painting and flocking. It was in such a mess I had to bin it.

Yeah. He's done worst things before, too. None of my other three cats have caused problems, but this one--his real name is Sam, btw--has caused lots of hobby problems.

Worst one yet is one day he got left in there unattended (he was new and rather nervous) and he marked my chair as his own  if you get my meaning.

I'm 99.9% sure my brother is getting me the Cadian Command squad for Christmas, so I'll probably add the Commissar to that squad. 8) I plan on starting an IG army. :)

My spare time for today will be taken up by TKD, and tomorrow I'll be out of town, but I'll probably strip him this weekend. :)

Sad to hear that, he was looking really good!

Well, I can't wait to see how you paint him a second time round and how you paint the Warg Riders. And it's cool you're starting a proper Imperial Guard Army, I look forward to seeing more pics of that in the New Year! 8)

A friend of mine came over today, with a CAMERA, so I thought I'd show you a base I worked on over the course of this afternoon.

I plan on using this as the base for my Cadian Command Squad Special Weapons trooper.

On another note, I decided to name all of my troopers. Lt. Grayton, Private McNeil, etc. So I typed out names in size 6 font, cut 'em out and glued 'em to the bottom of the bases. I have 4 other bases for the rest of the squad, I'll try and get some pics up soon. My friend only let me borrow the camera, but I happened to see an invoice for a camera off Ebay in my inbox today :D

Without further delay, here's the base, for your criticism:

Other than some touch-up painting, it's finished. I'm quite proud of this base, and spent roughly 3 hours on it all told, what with getting the wires the right length etc. Just in case you, like my brother, don't know what the "black-and-red tube-things" are, they're bits of protruding electrical wire, made from...erm....electrical wire. :)

C&C welcome. :-D

EDIT: Just saw that the top wire is off, I'll fix that. :)

Good luck painting those Templars. The Hard edging is a bit more difficult to pull of than on Space Wolves.

However, considering your painting prowess you shouldn't struggle too much.

Enjoy!

Got the box yesterday. That thing was almost 3 feet long and weighed ten or fifteen pounds. I've got 2x Ravenwing Battleforces, 2x Ironclad Dreadnoughts, 2x Tactical Marine Squads, a Techmarine and more to do.

I've managed to keep my greedy hands off of the boxes. All of them are still shrinkwrapped except the first Ravenwing Battleforce, which I started on.

Here's the first two bikers, WIP. Both are in need of clean-up and metalwork.

Apologies for the dark pic, I'll get a better one next time.

Update: I've finished most of the first Rhino. You detail-seeking people may notice the considerable gap between the plates in the front. There was a casting problem so that it wouldn't lie flat, I'm just glad its unnoticeable at range.

Nice weathering on the Rhino. All black anything can be hard to paint well. That one looks good.
