Beautiful work - have you got some humungous magnifier that allows you to see so much fine detail to work with? It is incredible.

Thanks guys, Brian I paint red in a really simplistic fashion starting with the Foundation Mechrite red then I usually go over that with a few thing coats of Red Gore, thinned down to make it even and funnily enough it covers a bit better when thinned, I then use lots of intermediate layers of Red Gore mixed with Blood Red until i get all the way to pure Blood Red. Depending on the look I then want to finish it off I will either continue with an orange or a flesh tone like Dwarf flesh into the mix.

I wanted to get a couple more things done non Lotr wise before sinking headlong into a project that will be solely based on Lotr and for the benefit of the One Ring members alone. So with that in mind here is a mini I have recently finished and one that is in early WIP stage. These will be the last non Lotr models I will do for a while save three GW Orks that I am also working on a bit at a time. The first minis is from Spyglass again it is a ltd edition model a Goblin called Hurk and he was alot of fun to do,

The Spyglass range is owned and created by Steve Buddle and I love his stuff. The base is from a site called Tins Bits and is a nice quality resin base. What doesn't show up is the fact that the base is recessed downwards and I have added water effects to cover over a couple of the skulls.
Next is the WIP of another Steve Buddle model Kodius from the Coolminiornot store again alot af character on this one. I am going for a darker theme here trying to get the mini to be a little more life like so I am experimenting with some different colours for doing the skin. Even at this early stage I am liking the way it is going.

I am goi9ng to try and get a Greek Hoplite shield from somewhere and maybe try and burnish it so that it fits in with the slaying of Medusa legend.
Hope you like these latest works. Like I say after these it is Lotr all the way for a while.

Thanks guys :D I have done some more on Kordius and I am really liking how he is coming along. The skin recipe turned out ok I think and I may use it again even though it takes some time to add all the glazes that went onto it.

Once this is done I will be starting back on Lotr again Boromir to be precise I may use this skin method for him.

Tim, how do you capture that perfect stubble look?
I've tried watered down Codex Grey, but it never looks right and makes him look as if he need a bath instead of a shave.

Cheers guys, Dave I use watered down Fortress Grey for the stubble I only add Codex into it after I have got the initial staining done and then the codex is added sparingly for shadows.

Marvellous stubble! How the hell do you get soooo much from 28mm minis? That face is fantastically realistic - looks like Eric Cantona with Jimmy Hill's chin! Real passion and fire in those eyes - not someone you would want to have a difference of opinion with. 10/10 is not enough.

Thanks all glad you like him, managed to get some more done yesterday though the red needs smoothing out a little more in places. I'll deal with that tomorrow but for now here he is

I got some more done to Kordius yesterday. I smoothed out the red on the cloak and also finished Medusa's head as well as painted the boots.

This shot is taken at a different angle from before so you can better see the way I have painted Medusa.
