Post subject:  Tidoco's Non Lotr Thread

Hi all this is where I will put all my non Lotr themed minatures both finished and in progress. So here goes with the first post, I did some work on this the other day when I had James over for a painting session, I actually started it a good while ago but it kind of got put on hold. I wasn't up to painting anymore on the giant so decided to do something a little different.

The mini is from Olley's Armies and is his 40mm ranger, I can't get a very good picture of it at the moment for some reason I can't get the lighting right but I am happy with it, the cloak is only at the base colour stage and has alot more work to be done to it yet, the eyes are about as good as I can get them, I find that is the only problem with Bob's sculpts is the way he does his eyes, but that is only a very small gripe. I intend to put him on a marshy type display base when he is done after all he should be at home in the wilds.

He could pass for Dunedain quite easily. Beautiful painting.

I am currently browsing Olley's Armies and Witchhunter, both of which I had heard of and forgotten to look up so that is a bonus gratefully accepted!

looks like very good painting there!
nice model and very nice paintjob. i like the browns and i can understand what you mean about the eyes... but you can't always paint the perfect miniature!

I thought I would paint this up for a bit of fun today, the new Vampire Counts stuff that is on the horizon got me wanting to paint skeletons and so I found this amongst my backlog of mnis, I am seriously tempted to find my others and do them for my Heroquest set. Not the best of pics as the light is not good tonight and taking pics of the metals is just compounding the problems.

Got this little blighter finished at long last, not quite sure what happened with the photo as the front view lighting seems off although the pictures were taken at the same time. The rear view is more representative of the actual colours on the mini.

I decided not to go with weathering the cloth as i like the contrast in the brightness of the colour to the drabness of the armour.

The metals are superb - they look like real steel/bronze. A beaufiful painted mini with subtle depth to colour and shade - the bones and cloth have a great texture (if that is the most appropriate term).

Post subject:  Slaughter In The Snow

Hi all, it has been ages since I got a mini finished but here is my latest offering. It is a Goblin Beserker from Madpuppet miniatures and believe me when I say that it is really quite small. I had alot of fun painting this so much so in fact that I bought another one that I intend to paint up with the double headed axe weapon option.

Stunning painting and basing - the 'gore' coming from the head is uncannily realistic. A bloodthirsty little chap.

Looks great Tim! Small, yes, but fantastic and full of character.

May I ask what have you used for the snow?

The blood on the snow looks horribly real , fantastic work on that one!

The mini isn't half bad either ...

Thanks guys, the snow Mac was done with baking soda and PVA Glue mixed to a paste and then applied to the base, while it was still wet I added a fine sprinkle of baking soda just to give it the sparkly effect.
Time to update this now here is a mini I finished not long back and if any of you were at Salute and went o the Madpuppet Miniatures stand you would have seen this in the display case along withe the Goblin and Puzzleman.

This is the Crow from Fire Industries a big resin cast version of a mini that was alot smaller in size, I have left the arms off for ease of painting. I have actually got everything done on this one up to the helmet. Another project I am working on is a set of Pygmies from Black Cat Bases. I have nearly finished the first one and will post that when done.
All this work has left me little tome for Lotr but i do have a few Castellans of Dol Guldur to paint as well as one or two other bits I am eyeing up as I go.

Master Blaster from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome! Superb painting! And what a fantastic sculpt!

The Crow has real character, and the painting is stunning.

Just a few bits to the main part of the mini and then the huge sword to do and that is that. Hopefully finished by the end of the week, then I hope to get on with a few Corsairs of Umbar that I just received in a trade.

Looks great Tim! Loving the Metallics and the base is well painted too.

What mini is that :O Looks awesome!

The painting is awesome too. Nice metallic looks, I especially like the gold. Can't wait to see the huge sword attached.

Awsome mate !!! As pretty usual. Great job on Crow, just lovely.

I just remembered what the Crow reminds me of (no pun intended!)

If you have seen the 1980's fantasy Labyrinthe starring David Bowie as the King of the Goblins (not related to Azog in any way, apparently), you may recall that there were all sorts of armoured minions clattering about.
This has some of that 'animal shape but in metal' quality.

Here is a link to the IMDB site about the movie -

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091369/

I really love the characterisation inherent in that scult - adorably ugly! And outstanding painting, as usual. I really prefer real metallics over NMM for the greater authenticity.
