My first commission piece, a test of this 54mm plastic. The client wanted a low standard as this could end up as 100's to do. He is happy so let the fun begin.
It was certainly weird painting this figure on two fronts, I played with them as a child and my grandad was in 8th Army during WW2.
I knocked this out in just over 2 hours.Image
I have slightly tweaked since this last photo, painting the canteen brown as per some valuable advice I got from an expert and I have also darkened the Thompson.
The gaiters just above the boots are now to match the uniform.

Looking great, especially for a two-hour job! I used to play with these Airfix soldiers as a kid too (like every boy of our generation, I guess). It's also amazing how good those 1970s or even earlier sculpts were compared to for example GWs old LotR wood elves.

I tried to paint one of my old plastic soldiers a few years ago, but I noticed that the plastic was a bit softer than in gaming figures. The primer did not stick as well to that figure. Have you had any similar problems?
