Does anyone know anywhere that sells Lord of the Rings "bitz" (individual sprue items)? If not, would anyone be interested in buying them if I set up an Internet store? |

Yes, I think I would be interested in buying certain bitz and pieces.. Not sure about the amount of how many I'd buy though. |

Of course. Especially things like high elfen shields. |

Yeah, I had shields in mind too, especially elven and Uruk-Hai shields. The Galadhrims need more shields than they are given, and Uruk-Hai captains and such need shields, and both Uruk-Hai shields and Elven shields would be hard to make out'a green stuff, especially when you need several of them. The only Bitz I know GW are selling, are extra pairs of Balrog Wings... |

Frustrating. GW used to carry a full range of LOTR bitz, I remember. I'd certainly buy some if you had an LOTR bitz store, Farmer Maggot. |

I certainly would, as long as GW didn't have a coronary over it. |

Sounds like it could be worth setting up, at least on a small scale. There are several online shops that sell WH and 40K bitz and at least 1 that sells stripped LOTR metal models. Not sure if GW don't mind or haven't noticed. It might take a while to get moving but feel free to leave any requests here. I'll probably start by populating it with some of the mountains of bitz I already have. How does working on a one piece plastic infantry figure price of £0.90 sound as a starting point? Broken down for multipart figures e.g. models with body plus 1 arm, £0.60 for the body and £0.30 for the arm. Would you pay those kind of prices? |

Consider very carefully before putting anything into motion. 1. Even breaking down the sprues, there is a severe lack of 'bitz' for LotR models. 2. Certain 'bitz' will be very popular, whilst others will sit untouched. And if you want to restock the popular 'bitz', you may very well be adding to the duty piles too. 3. Consider how you are going to remove the models from the sprue. You either have to get as good a cut as possible, which ill be potentially time consuming, or leave extra sprue attatched to the models to avoid damaging them. 4. Considering pricing, it may be a better idea to reverse your original scheme. Just to try and mitigate the aforementioned spare pile. For example, if I wanted to make all my Orcs WYSIWYG, I'd be looking to buy a boat-load of Morannon Orc shields, which would leave you with a large pile of shieldless Morannon Orcs. Same goes for people looking to replace broken models, you might shift a few spare spear arms or whatever, but you would be left with a bunch of one armed Gondorians... It is a good idea, and as stated, has been done for other systems, but you need to look at what you are working with. Both 40k and WHFB have hundreds of sprues with countless additional components, LotR doesn't. Bar the couple of boxes with plug in shields/arms, you are pretty much left with the Troll and Ent kit for spare parts. |

Thanks for the advice gaarew, I was certainly planning to charge more for shields as they are one of the main reason for wanting bitz. I hadn't thought about charging more for the arms and less for the bodies, but it sounds like a good idea. I'm planning on keeping the stock levels fairly low to try and reduce the piles of unwanted bitz. I'm not expecting to make huge amounts of money, it's more a case of helping people out and giving me a test platform for ecommerce Web sites (I'm a freelance Web designer). |

deffinatly be interested. i have LOADS of spare bits from 40k and specially fantasy. for example if i bought the gw fortress i could make it into quite litteraly any highly detailed fortress i liked. spears and barricades. skulls on pikes. sheilds on walls. id like to do something like that with lotr. like a...well...helms deep....but not as "real" to the original. since i cant make one for love nor money and i refuse to pay hundreds just to purchase one. but yes if you do set one up send me a message on here and if i have money at the time i shall indeed be a customer. spears and sheilds ill be needing. also some bodyparts and heads. |

Ye would be useful... Quote: The Galadhrims need more shields than they are given Actually they got enough?! Models with bows cant equip them and so can't/shouldn't ones with elvenblades because you could no longer use them two handed...

Slight threadomancy Azrael However, in WotR, shields give you a bonus and the elven blades count as glaives (giving +1F) instead of single/two-handed weapons, so shields are a good choice for them However, the glaives come with the unit automatically, rather than as an upgrade, which seems odd as a third of the box comes with spears (neither glaives nor bows, lol). Regardless, as to the original post, I think it would be a big hit, bbut if you're doing it small scale, probably best to stick to Rohan, Gondor, Mordor and Isengard, I would imagine. Although I'd love to be able to get my hands on lots more Easterling spearmen |

Yeah I'd be interested. I'm looking for a plastic right hand for the plastic ent model. If anyone has one give me a nudge. |
