Oh BAMA! Those are amazing models! I think I've found what I need to fill out my Companies of Rohirrim! |

Those painted models are the 3up masters, so a lot bigger than your finished minis. No reason to believe the plastics would be of any less quality though. And qty 44 for just 18 quid. Just goes to show you how much GW are milking us all for (as if we didn't know already). |

I agree with everyone on here - these two companies mean we can buy our mercenary armies a lot cheaper. UKFB is right, the Gripping Beast ones are of their 3-Ups, so the thick bases won't be on the finished sculpts. I saw some Warlord Games ECW cavalry minis the other day mounted on LotR style cavalry bases. They looked really good and the 'hump' of their integral bases leant a little extra on the terrain side - something that can be used to artistic effect if so desired. |

These are definitely going to become my Helmingas and probably my Carn-Dum Barbarians as well. Damn, looks like I'll need at least 2 boxes; possibly 3. Not that I mind particularly Their website mentions other plastic sets, but I couldn't find them. The metals they offer look great and are pretty cheap, but still not WoTR-friendly as these Vikings are. Does anyone know of any other Gripping Beast plastic sets? |

They have not been released yet, but they have one or two boxed sets in the pipeline. I presume they will be announced after Salute where/when the Vikings go on sale. I shall be grabbing a box or two when I attend this year. I prefer the look of the Gripping Beast minis compared to the Wargames Factory ones - for the reasons Dorthonion gives. |

The painted examples are Three Ups but I am hoping that the finished products are just as good, they should be on sale at Salute and if they are I will be picking some up to add to a range of Foundry Vikings I have lurking around somewhere. |

I've noted the 3 up comments, but to one of those who doesn'y quite understand all that, are these figues 28mm scale ? I must admit if they are I am delighted as I see nothing but Rohan foot soldiers. And with 44 figures to destruct there are all sorts of conversions that are possible, even mixing these with GW |

I got to see these in the flesh at Salute yesterday. They are very nice. Unfortunately I didn't have the cash to buy any (spent it on other stuff) but will definitely be buying some at a later date. I just wish I had taken a LotR mini with me to compare sizes etc. |

they do look amazing. as a fan of vikings (i follow asatru and viking ancestry) id say these look great. very close to Rohirim. which in turn were based on vikings/celts themselves. and yes they do look strawberry blonde/gingerish one even looks blonde unless my eyes deceive me. but yes nothing frightning about it. to those of us in wales(and england and ireland and scotland) these are partly our ancestors. whats frightning about them? then again...an army of gingers coming over the hill bearing weapons...id be pretty jumpy too. but yeah these would look great converted with Rohan peices. and the price is fantastic. i mean games workshop are seriously extortionate. they have to make money "because were a business and thats what its all abut" but theres a fine line between making money and ripping off the customers which will one day turn around and give the company the finger. these would look great converted to mounts aswell. |

Wow look at all those extra weapons. Worth picking up just for those. Clear detail on the figures too. I might just have to get me these. |

And look at the conversion possibilities - some of those bits could easily be added to Warriors and Riders of Rohan to increase variety. Now I am even more glad I spotted these! |

These guys are an absolute steal compared with anything GW offers, and look great. I haven't picked up a box yet, but am seriously considering it. I have a set of the Wargames Factory viking huscarls, as well. I think each set has it's strengths and weaknesses. The detail is a little more crisp on these guys, but I like some of the design elements on the WF vikings a tad better. The large mail sleeves on GB's throw me off a bit, mostly just on the "hero" mold. |
