Hey guys,

I have been playing Lotr SBG a time ago, now after 4 or 5 years not playing it I picked up my models again.
But I was wondering as the war of the ring new gaming method came out.
Is the SBG still the same as it was like 5 years ago, I mean same rules and so on.
I got the Lotr strategy battle game rulebook are those still the core rules?

Kind regards,
dipdip

Welcome back :)

War of the Ring is a different game. SBG remains the same, with a few (mostly welcome) tweaks introduced in the new Hobbit rules. If you don't want to upgrade to the Hobbit rules, at minimum you'll want the new sourcebooks, as they introduce the "warband" method of army creation, and have some much improved scenarios.

Yeah, you're prettymuch fine for core rules, the big change is the faction sourcebooks (and it's a good change, no more Legions of Middle Earth and multi-book cross-referencing; the sourcebooks are concise and contain all the info you need for your faction of choice. right now they're not even terribly expensive either)

Got a big mordor armie already only missing some recent models like morgul knights etc.
So when I buy the Mordor armiebook there are al points values etc for the mordor armie. like the spider queen, dragon etc.

About the warband method is that u have to make "squads" instead of getting single models to the battlefield?

Yes, the Mordor book has point costs, etc.

Yes, pretty much, but it's just an army organization rule. Once the models are deployed they can go anywhere they want, they don't have to stay near their warband or leader.

So the warband method keeps the big armies single heroe away from the enemy.

Well then I will order the morder rulebook :) and be happy to keep on battling. and eventually purchase also models :)

Thanks for the help and see u guys around on the forum :)
