Hey I want to know if he is worth getting. I've been using the dragon recently and the advantages of having a dangerous flying guy quickly became apparent, but he is easily killed by bowfire in both sbg and wotr? |

I'd say yes, overall. He's a warrior-killing machine, if you can get him into the fray without being shot. Don't send him in alone though, IOW don't use flight to leap ahead of your army, but rather to jump behind troops your minions are tying up. Use with other fast troops like wargs, spiders and bats to flank while your other bog troops like goblins or basic orcs swarm the enemy. Besides, he looks cool on the battlefield |

I would personaly say yes. I got to use him in a multiplayer SBG game (against Dwarves and Gondor since it was a 'War in the North' themed battle) and he is pretty good. The goal was to free a Dragon (in the Good players' case kill). I just swarmed my goblins into combat with the Dwarves; flew Gulavhar over the enemy lines (with 2 bat swarms); sent my fast troops (6 Wargs; 4 Giant Spiders) around the flanks. By the third turn Gulavhar was in combat with 3 Gondorian Knights and won the fight quite easily. All I had to do to keep him safe from harm was to use the tactics I normally use with a Flying/Spellcaster or Flying/Firebreathing Dragon-Fly over the enemy, engage the rear of the enemy, kill any Heroes/ Large Creatures that stand in the way |

I'd get him; he's significantly cheaper than the Dragon, which is a nice bonus. Also, his ability to regain lost wounds will scare some players, especially beginners (I know from experience). I'd try to support him with some bats, if he gets into a tight spot the bats should be able to hold off any enemy models for a turn, allowing Gulavhar to escape to a safer point of the battlefield and try to regain some lost wounds. |

ya, when i use the dragon i get fly and tough hide, so can literally have him charge into the middle on their army and come out with MAYBE 1 wound lost, so little tactics there. Gulavhar seems like a substitute for the dragon at lower pt lvls. sometime when i get the money, im gonna buy a ton of stuff from the UK, and buhrdur and gulavhar will probably be in there (along with bats, spiders, spider queen, a shade, tons of prowlers for wotr...) so thanks, gulavhar is on my to-buy list @whafrog: what armies do you play? you seem to play exactly what i want, goblins and beasts |

At this point I have at least 500 points of everything My favourites are Elves (any), Rohan, and goblin + beasties. But I bought a Mumak last spring and I'm looking forward to building him this winter and trying him out. |

@ shadowswarm: maybe off topic, but I would recommend you to buy an ebob spider as queen, it looks much better the GW one. |
