Well, thanks to the lothlorian thread found here: viewtopic.php?f=37&t=21805 I am now confused about some aspects of cavalry. Just when you think you have it someone goes and throws in a curve ball Okay, so first question: GothmogtheWerewolf wrote: Galadhrim Knights are expert Riders in SBG and can use their bow whilst moving full speed whilst benefitting from the defence og their shield Where does it state this in the rules? Second question: Hilbert wrote: No, not even expert riders can't use TH weapons... My question is where is this stated in the rulebook(s)? I can see the reasoning behind it LOGICALLY (As it would be difficult to do so while riding a horse, but this is also a game that rarley reflects real life), but I'd prefer an official answer. Thanks for your time. |

Both questions are answered if you read the WD thread about Galadhrims here: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_Cus ... dhrim_Host You have to sing up/in to read it |

Either I'm really dense, or just blind, but I cannot find the answer to either questions from that link |

No cavalry can move their full distance AND shoot in SBG - that is a WoTR rule. The special rule Expert Rider allows them to still benefit from having a shield while armed with a bow, and allows a reroll on the jump chart while mounted. Remember though, that the Galadhrim steeds are a bit faster than other mounts... The "Woodland creature" rule DOES extend to the mount though. That is the only exception. Page 43 of the rulebook - last sentence on the page states The One Rulebook wrote: It is also impossible to use a two handed weapon whilst mounted

Expert Riders in SBG just ensures you can carry shield and bow, with jump test rerolls. Basically, you can become 'medium' cavalry with D5 and still have 'fast' cavalry aspects like moving (1/2 speed) and shooting. Never knew about the two-hand weapon rule but it makes sense. Swinging a heavy two-hand weapon would risk unbalancing and falling off the horse to die by trampling. |

It's funny, in WotR, they have rules for cavalry with THW (basically lances), but there aren't any cavalry in the profiles that actually has them. |

A lance is nothing like a traditional 2HW (great sword or pole axe for example. A lance is often mounted or balanced on the saddle or braced by the body and basically just held pointing forward with some minor aiming prior to impact. |

Yes, you can hold a lance with one hand. |

I know that, BUT the rules have a section for cavalry only 2HW which is the exact same as for lances. |
