Just a quick question, if my ROR fights an urk, wins, and knocks him to the ground but fails to kill him, then charges again next turn while the urk is still knocked down, can the urk shield to win the fight and stand up? I haven't been able to see any rules that say you can't, and it would be the smartest thing as an urk that is knocked down can't inflict wounds anyways...

~I doubt it as the Uruk cannot roll any dice at all when knocked over, so you can't double nothing.

Yes, the uruk can shield if charged the turn following being knocked down. So long as you can still roll to win a fight, you can opt to use the shielding rule and gain double your normal rolls but get no rolls for wounding. Since you can't strike blows when prone anyways, it is a great tactical decision. Also, the rules for shielding in the MoM rulebook say that you are able to shield after being knocked to the ground. However, you still have to survive long enough to win priority in order to get up.

Ummm, actually you still roll dice to win the fight. You just can't roll to wound the attacker.

The short answer is yes you can shield, and if you win the fight you can get up. You can't strike any blows though (per normal shielding rules)
