Hi Guys,

Just got the EFGT set from The Hobbit.

Total noob to the game but highly interested in learning everything :)

Now I assembled all models and I am wondering where to start with painting?
Because painting all models requires a lot of paint what do you guys recommend to start with?

I was thinking of buying the appropriate paints for the goblins first as this would already take a good while to paint but you see all over the internet different ideas to paint them so how do I know which paints to buy?

Other small question, the base for the goblin king has 2 holes in it, is this for a reason because I could not really figure out how to assemble him to his base (just glue him on?)

For Games Workshop's paint scheme you need Rakarth Flesh, Carroburg Crimson and Pallid Wych Flesh. Leadbelcher, Nuln Oil and Ironbreaker for the weapons and various browns for the leather. Exact paints escape me right now, sorry. I think it may be Steel Legion Drab and Agrax Earthshade.

I recommend starting with the goblins, as the Dwarves are VERY detailed :)

Paint the flesh with Rakarth Flesh, wash with Carroburg Crimson, go over again with Rakarth and finally highlight with Pallid Wych.

There is a digital download on the web but it costs an arm and a leg. I can send you a version which I was given by my local GW, but there are no pictures - just a chart of stages and colours. A pretty handy guide though. Anyone else reading this who wants a copy pm me and I can sort you out too.

Maybe even start with the great goblin, he is bigger and thus painting detail on him is an awful lot easier.

If you want a noob tip then i can help, as i am not a very good painter at all (i have some co-ordination problems but for the most part i just suck; however my mothers boyfriends son (a mouthful i know) bought me a stand magnifier for Christmas and dear god has it improved the quality of my painting! I highly recommend it, my painting without the stand has even gotten better too!
