Hi all,

So the heading of this forum promises no laughing, so I'm going to ask what is probably a very stupid question.

Does anyone use Black Numenoreans as foot versions of Morgul Knights?

When the models for each first came out I thought that was their intended purpose.

Reading the descriptions of both on the GW site, however, makes me realise that the BN's are (logically, and rather obviously) - the Numenoreans who fell under the sway of Sauron, and that the Morgul Knights are some sort of ghostly(?) warriors from the Morgul Vale.

This all seemed fine to me, until I just bought a blister of BN's and the strip under their feet reads 'Morgul'.

So now I'm totally confused. Is anyone able to clarify? I've always intended to use them as Morgul Knights who have lost their mounts, which won't be a problem since I'm generally my main 'opponent', but I wondered if anyone else does the same?

No question is a stupid question here buddy :)

As far as I'm aware, Morgul Knights and Black Numenoreans are two seperate unit types. However, I'm sure your opponent wouldn't mind you using the Black Numenoreans as proxy for when the Morgul Knights are dismounted in battle, since they have no foot model of their own.

Hope that helps (although don't take my word alone for it!)

Personally, I've always envisaged Morgul Knights to be mounted BN's. One reason supporting this is that the Black Numernorean Marshal has an option for a steed, so it seems to make sense. IMO, as models go, BN's are definitely the best models for dismounted MK's. Another interesting point is that, at least the old metal Morgul Knight models were based on the Mouth of Sauron, who is himself a Black Numernorean. From a quick wiki search I can not find any relation between between BN's and MK's, but that shouldn't stop you using BN's as dismounted MK's.

Hope this helps you out a bit!

Well, I just realized morgul knights haven't got foot versions...
Which is kind of weird, right? Or am I missing something?

So yes, I would support you in using the black numenoreans as foot versions! ^^

I’d need to double check but as the stats for them both are same (mount aside) there shouldn’t be any problem. It is what I’m planning to do too.
