Preparing Threadomancy.....
So I know this is an old and dead thread, but not irrelevant I think. As of December 2012 the rules changed and were upgraded and so I think it possible to rethink some of these old subjects. There has, after all, been a resurgence of interest in Sauron and the Necromancer.
So I wonder how the new rules have affected our little Firecaller. The GW FAQ has fixed his stats, which seemed to be quite important. He is now a 1 attack, 2 wound model.
At only 10 points more than a regular shaman he switches the second power of Transfix for a powerful firewall spell. Seeing as how it is cast at the same value as the Fury this makes it pretty reliable. It can also drop a Man of Gondor with a shield on a 4+!
Of course, I imagine first turn we want to cast Fury (I think using that Might to channel it is advisable) and the next turn, if close enough, we fireball the enemy. We don't have to worry too much about the perfect time to cast as we can simply sacrifice an orc (probably spearman) to get d3 points of Will. We don't want to use all of our Will though, we want that Fury to remain.
I'm thinking very much about making him a regular in my list, or at least any time I would use a shaman anyway. Ten points shouldn't be hard to free up.
I'm thinking of upgrading the regular shaman in this list:
viewtopic.php?f=37&t=25942Does anybody have any success stories or ways to use him? Is he not as good as he appears?
