I just read the rules for the Vault Wardens I got. I'm a little confused by them. Could be stupid question on my part! (Probably is!) I don't have the rulebook here today, so that might be my problem. Here's my steps of "logic"... 1. The shield guy gets a -1 on the roll to fight if he's not backed up by a spear. 2. If you're shielding you have to do it alone. 3. This means that if the vault warden ever wants to shield he gets a -1? It seems odd that such an awesome shield can't really use shielding effectively? He'd always be better off just fighting normally, getting 2 dice (1 extra from the spear). I sorta hoped the special rule would be that he'd get three dice when shielding to be a super wall. |

I understand your logic and see your point. I think you may as well never use the shielding rule with them. As you logicaly thought out it is better to just not shield, you have a nice defence 9 shield to fall back on if you don't win the fight but you can still strike back if you do win. I think that was the intention for the models, an effective shielding team which can deal blows on to the enemy. |
