Guys, a query regarding spell casters and range/position.
I didn't think this would be an issue at first until I noticed some of the spells are quite close range, Black Dart for example is only 6" range. Now, at that range, and for that kind of spell the exact figure placement could be crucial.
What I am wondering is, is it fair to "shuffle" a spell-casters position within his company to get in range for a spell, presumably as part of the movement phase. Or if he is already in a secondary company, than the first lead company due to presence of several others heroes, could he flit from company to company???

In a similar way, when a spell-caster is part of a formation that has taken up position in a defensible terrain area, where exactly is the spell-caster considered to be for the purpose of casting spells? Likewise this applies to other heroes in terrain as well, who may be the desired targets of spells...?
Any help appreciated.
regards
Scott

Measuring for spellcasters seems a bit ambiguous, some would imply measuring from the model and others measure from the base, depending on how its written. Personally I'd just measure all spells from the base like any other ranged attack for consistancy and totally eliminate any problems like you are having or might have.

The rules say measure from the centre of the terrain for shooting, so I would assume this is the same for magic. It's a bit of a cock-up with the rules though as throwing weapons and some magic might not reach out of the terrain.

Or, for throwing weapons, reach into the terrain.
