Hi, just wondering if anybody knows the rules about mounted gimli and legolas (on the same horse), do they get any extra attacks? do you have to nominate one of them to fight with? if legolas is killed can gimli ride on his own? can legolas fire his bow without sacrificing half his move? Thanks x |

It's nowadays in the "Common scenario-specific rules" section, p. 73 in the hardcover rulebook. If I remember correctly, at the time the model with Legolas and Gimli was released, passenger rules were in the main rules section and Riders or Rohan often carried warriors as passengers to quickly take and hold objectives. Now it is said to be scenario-specific, and "only models specified in the scenario can be carried as passengers". -- Pasi |

I am thankful that it is not a general rule as it does leave so much room for abuse, but I do wish they would make a special profile in SBG, and maybe make it a Legendary Formation in WotR to cover that model specifically. |

yeah but in the film as soon as there is trouble Gimli is off the horse and preparing to fight on foot. This leads me to think that, for preference, Gimli would rather not fight on horseback. |

No need for a special rule unless you want one where he rolls to fall off every turn, the stunty can hardly stay sat on one let alone fight from one - being a non-combatant passenger works just fine for Gimli. |

All true, but you can only do so in special scenarios (once riders were pulled from core SBG rules). It would have been nice if GW released an official "profile" that allowed the use of the model during regular point-based games. It could also make a fun Legendary Formation in WotR. It's true that so far I have found no Legendary Formation where you weren't better off competitively taking the Heroes as Epics instead, but they can be fun and "competitive" in more themed or casual games (no G.Horde with three Nazgul and Gothmog vs. High Elf/Gondor with three Counselors ). Like the Three Hunters, White Council, etc. |
