If the model limit for 500pts is 50, 75 for 1000pts and 100 for 1500pts, would this continue, so the model limit for 2000pts being 125 and for 2500pts, 150 and so on?

SBG's not really designed for such huge games unless you have a setup that you're willing to leave up for days...however, on the Last Alliance site there is a guy typhoon2 who regularly has huge battles (I think he said 6000 points+...!!), so you might want to ask him how he balances it out.

EDIT: I just saw a post from him on this site too...

The official rule book says 10 models per 100 points, i think that would work out pretty good.

LoME says 75 at 1000 points, and 100 at 1500...not exactly 10 models per 100 points.

Yeah i know, but LoMe doesn't cover the higher points games (3000pts+) so i was just referring to the rulebook. Besides there are no major events which deal with over 700pts so the limit should be more down to preference than hardcore ruling if you are gonna go nuts and play a 2500 point game.

I think 10 per 100 would give a huge advantage to Evil which is why LoME isn't set up that way.

I would have to agree, even though I only play evil, but I think I will assume the points are 25 per 500. Thanks for all the help.

I stumbled on this thread by accident and found that I got a mention. Ooooh...

The 6000 point game comprised something like 250 Good versus 350 Evil models. We use LoME for army lists, in that bow limits are respected and troop types must be represented within the list, with a Hero, etc. We threw the Ally limits out of the window owing to them a) being stupid (Corsairs supporting Moria Goblins, for instance) and b) because interesting armies become illegal - the Pelennor Fields, for instance, or Thranduil marching to the rescue of Dale.

For large games, ignore LoME and focus on what your group decides is best. This may be aesthetics (we ignore most of the named Ringwraiths and stats-creep warriors), practicality (6000 points is a Goblin Captain and 1491 basic Moria Goblins. Neither interesting nor playable...) and personal preferences - this week I've fought a 3000-point monster-heavy army with me fielding lots of Good magic, simply because we wanted to try the two ideas out. That one was 138 Good models versus 146 or so Evil, and was figure-light compared to most of our games.

In short, outside of tournaments and the like, go with what interests you. If a player persistently brings armies or plays scenarios that annoy then stop playing against them, unless they change. Remember this is supposed to be fun, not a chore!

Allying Evil with Good should be done sparingly, but some forces - Huorns (Ents?), Khand, Spiders, Wargs, etc. - could be classed as Neutral and be used by both sides. I've used Wild Men of Dunland as freed galley slaves at the Pelennor Fields before now...

Thankyou Typhoon2, good advice me thinks. Another illegal army that shouldn't be - a 3 way allianceof Saruman's Uruks led by Ugluk, Sauron's Orcs led by Grishnakh, and Moria Goblins led by a Captain. I also hate the goblin corsair allies (think of all the throwing weapons, and it doesn't make sense as they weren't anywhere near each other.) I wouldlike to play larger games and it probably makes sense ignoring LOME, as long as noone ends up with a ridiculous army, a Pelennor Fields at a high scale, could have multiple mumakil, fell beasts and trolls on evil, and the good coould get all sorts too. Armies look more interesting IMO when there's more variety. Thanks again. :)
