Can Elrond use renew for heal itself? Because the rulebook states only that he can Heal a friendly model...but it uses the same words for the strengthen the will magic power but it specifics that the model cannot use the power on itself. thx in advice |

Actually, I think it does work on him. As noted, Strengthen Will specifically says that you can't target yourself, but Renew doesn't say anything about it. Does Elrond consider himself a friend? I would assume so. Is he resticted from healing himself? I don't think so. (Don't have the rulebook on me) |

I don't think that they use the actual word "friend". My point is that I think it's a case of "It doesn't say I can't, so I can". |

I don't have the rule book and have only been playing for like 3 weeks (so I'm just going off gut instinct) but it would make sense that if you had the power to heal people you could heal yourself and I'm sure friendly doesn't mean friend it just means on your side doesn't it, friendly is used as it includes allies and avoids confusion (but clearly doesn't) if they had said your troops people would then argue that heroes and monsters aren't normal troops so can't be healed |

GW never tend to use the word troops for LotR, they would say 'friendly models' or friendly Warriors/Heroes. Any why would it Quote: make sense that if you had the power to heal people you could heal yourself ? Can Doctors operate on themselves?, wouldn't this be the same sort of thing.

I don't have my rulebook handy, what is the exact wording of the targeting rule? |

@Draugluin, the ones at St Mungo's can. @Elessar, some operations most certainly couldn't be, but, as with the Healers at the above, they get someone else o heal them, you do not heal yourself, unless you are a film-Vamapanese, or other cheesified heroes/villians. In general, people do not heal themselves. |

But in a pinch, they most definitely will. The reason why people in search and rescue (of which I am one) need to know first aid is so they can patch themselves up if need be. |

Aye, I suppose it is humanly possible depending upon the seriousness. Maybe you should just do a houserule of which way it goes, or a vote, if there are many on both sides. |

In Strengthen Will, the rules specifically mention that the caster isn't one of the "friendly models" affected by the spell. In Terrifying Aura, the rules specifically mention that the caster *is* one of the "friendly models" affected by the spell. I don't think there is a textual argument either way for Renew. "Friendly model" doesn't have a definition, I generally take it to include all models on the player's side but it is never made explicit. |
