Could someone explain the paralyse rule to me please? If the affected model fails to roll the needed D6 amount, does the affected model stay affected by paralyse? And at the end of each fight phase tries to recover?

I edited my reply after I reread the sourcebook. i apologize for my previous post. I made some wrong assumptions.
It is not explicitly stated, but logically one would assume that the model remains paralyzed and has to roll in the end of every subsequent fight phase in order for it to recover.

As long as a rule doesn't have a built in expiration then it would persist.

Considering that many spells were minimized in effectiveness under the new rules, does the Hobbit-version of the Barrow-wight power read the same?

Yup, the paralyse spell hasnt changed. Stays paralysed until you roll a 6 as already mentioned. Just be glad barrow-wights have no might points, the channelled version is super nasty. Not looking forward to whatever character gets that spell with might points.

Barrow-Wights are not overpowered thoughm if that's what you were thinking. They still struggle to earn their pts, but they are better now than they were in LoME.

Not OP in classic SBG at all but they could often be counted on to earn their points if played well and protected. But it wasn't hard to make a mistake with them either.
