I had a question regarding catapults (and trebuchets for that matter) What is the Maximum and Minimum range for this war machine?
I was given an estimated range by elfLover but just wanted to know the official distance.

That must mean the "Siege of Gondor" rulebook is out of date

As Smorg says.
Siege of Gondor was out of date in 2005 when the One Rulebook replaced it. And mow that too has been replaced.
The only books that aren't out of date are the ones still available on the website.

Do you mean this website or GW's website?
Also, why would the max targeting distance be 8 feet if standard gaming is a 4x4 foot square or a 4x6 foot rectangle?

Some people like 8x4 or larger tables (big sieges) so full size trebuchets can exploit their maximum range to thin out the forces of Mordor before the fighting becomes close up and personal.

Unless the scenario dictates otherwise our standard play area is 4x6, but the tables themselves are 4x8 so we do sometimes "go big". We haven't played much with the new warband system yet but the games we have played using 4x6 still gave plenty of opportunity for shooting and maneuvering even with decent terrain coverage. Siege weapons are not usually cost-effective in SBG unless attacking a static target (or even a Take and Hold / High Ground where everyone wants to be in a close central location) but in high point games a weapon like this can at least disrupt the enemy, especially if it can reach the entire board.
