Hi guys

I've just been reading through "kingdoms of men" sourcebook and am confused.
The grey company has the special rule about Dunedin or rotn being able to have 4 arnor bow rangers as followers without any bow restriction but then says the Dunedin and rotn are in dependant heroes and can't have any followers?????

Anyone know about this independent hero rule and if it only applies if you wanted other types of followers rather than rangers??

Dunedain and RotN don't have followers, the rules never say that. They say if you want a 100% limit, you have to take 1 Dunedain or RotN (as an independent hero) for every 4 RoA. You still have to take a normal hero to lead your RoA. A one-warband army of GC would be:

Halbarad
12 RoA

plus 3 RotN (as 3 separate warbands)

The Grey Company Army rule reads "[...]can take up to 4 Rangers of Arnor for each Dunedain or Ranger of the North it contains."

I believe it means that collectively for every 1 Ranger of the North and/or Dunedain you have in your force, you're allowed to buy 4 Rangers of Arnor even if it means that you're going over the 33% bow limit. These Rangers of Arnor are going to have to be in a warband led by a hero who is NOT a Dunedain or Ranger of the North because, as you've pointed out, these are Independent Heros. (You could, for instance, put your Rangers of Arnor in a warband led by Arathorn or Halbarad.)

Halbarad counts as Halbarad, he cannot count as one of the ROTN you need for bow limit.
