Azog has the option to take a lance for 5 points. Azog has, by default, a two-handed weapon and the burly rule. From what I understand, a lance doesn't add any other benefit than a +1 to wound on the round that you charge as cavalry. However, this benefit already exists every single round of combat if you use a two-handed weapon. On top of that, burly prevents him from taking the usual -1 to duel you would get with a two-handed weapon. So... what exactly is the point in getting the lance on Azog? Is it some sort of fall-back for if he somehow loses his burly rule? Because if that is the sole reason for being able to take it, that's rather...silly? |

You can now use 2h weapons mtd. Doesn't give any restrictions on weapons in any of the relevant sections that I can find. |

That's what I thought. I looked it up but there's no restrictions that I could find. It would also make relatively little sense considering the new mounted hobbit models all have options for two handers. (Elven blades, orc hunters can upgrade to two handers, etc.) |

If your opponent has floi and take's burly away you've got a lance. or against a gundagblad shaman. (it's not ..+2 together I think) |

(it's not ..+2 together I think) Yeah I had indeed considered the possibility of Floi taking burly away, but that seems like a really far-fetched reason to have the option of taking a lance. I mean, why would they take away your ability to wield a 2-hander effectively over your ability to absolutely destroy heroes as long as you don't roll a 1? |

Would it have anything to do with weapon abilities (like Feint and stuff)? |

Doubtful. Lance has no weapon abilities for as far as I am aware, where as his default axe does. |

I'm pretty sure this is just left over from the whole Yazneg/Azog changeover. Yazneg (who was Azog) has a lance so the profile got a lance, at the time he probably didn't have burly. Then when PJ and co changed the Azog character at the last minute they made a few changes to better reflect how he would appear in the movie but left in the lance. We end up with an amalgam of the two characters. It's just the result of creating rules/profiles for a film that hasn't been completely finished, same reason Thror's got the wrong equipment and the wrong troll has a cold. |

Add to that the fact that the new rules are pretty fresh and there's probably not a lot of intuitive understanding of them yet. And I'm not sure how much peer review things get. |

So does Yazneg have rules with him? Because I was wondering with the change andtge lack of a profile in the main book |

Waste of time him having a two-handed axe anyway as his special rule says he always wounds on a 3+. |

Which means... you only need to roll a 2+ if they are not modifying your dice in any way. Also that's only versus heroes, not versus everything, so the axe does help you chew through high armour non-heroes as well. |

Completely off topic - when I saw the title of the thread, my first thought was what the blazes does Lance Armstrong have to do with Azog? it's been one of THOSE days folks. My head is fried. |
