re the last point of will, casting transfix on a 5+ has never been my strong point so I would usually leave it. The only downside now is it leaves shamans open to a sap will from wraiths.
Totally agree, in ye olden days I always used to hang onto the Will for multiple castings of Fury in case he lost a Fight later on in the game, the 1 in 3 risk of Transfix never seemed worth it to me - that said, there was one glorious game where I managed to transfix an Eagle with a Moria shaman and subsequently kill it and win the game, that was pretty special.
These days my Shaman's are 1 trick ponys. First turn Channel Fury and roll 2 Dice, assuming you get your 3+ he's then just a Fury bubble, can't cast anything else for the rest of the game. If you get double 1s or 2s though you are left with an Uruk spearman with 2 wounds and a 1/3 chance of Transfixing once later in the game - Horrific way to start a game
If there's a Ringwraith on the board I just keep my shaman way back in my half until as and when the wraith's been neutralised.
