Hi, Last time I played with my friend, we had different opinions again on multiple in the way tests. The situation: he had some trolls, throwing stones at me. I had 4 lines of warriors at about 8 inches from him. In the 4th line I had my golden king of abrakhan. He obviously wanted to hit the golden king, and he could easily see him because he is way higher than the other models around. But ofcourse there were 3 lines of normal warriors in front of him. Now my question: Do the trolls need to take 3 in the way tests, so 1 for every line the rock passes? Or only 1 as my friend suggested? And what would happen if a troll or fell beast was behind these 3 lines? 90% of the fell beast would be visible, so what to do with in the way tests? |

3 models in the way = 3 in the way rolls. Is the simple answer. If any part of the model is obscured (excluding tails, other appendages, weapons etc) then you get an ITW regardless of how much of the model you can see. Make sense? |

Everything is from the model's eye view. If the troll can see the entire target without another model in the view, then there shouldn't be an in-the-way roll. The Golden King is different. I think technically the entire model includes the palanquin and the Abrakhan guards holding it, not just the king in the chair. However, some parts of a model are not factored as being "in the way", such as weapons, hair, decorations, and tails. In this case I'd include the palanquin, as it's an essential part of the model (tipping over the Golden King would certainly damage his reputation). |

So here a pic of the situation: Treebeard throws the rock, but considering line of sight, I believe it's only one in the way roll? Because I have an almost clear view of the line in front him? |

It's quite hard to see what's going on there but assuming I'm seeing it correctly (the Golden King is behind 2 lines of warriors) then it's 2 In The Way rolls. Reto wrote: I have an almost clear view of the line in front him? And that's exactly the point, it doesn't really matter how much is covered or how much you can 'almost' see, in SBG if any part of the model is covered it generates an ITW roll. It's a nice and simple rule but it does allow some ridiculous shots, the truth is in SBG you can normally shoot at anyone unless scenery is in the way, you can almost always draw a line of sight to some part of a model 4 or 5 ranks back. Personally I've always felt your first in the way roll should be a 4+, second a 5+ and third a 6+, if there's more than 3 in the ways then you can't shoot the target. Alas, nay. |

The camera appears to be higher than Treebeard's eyeball. You have to get down to the model's view to determine what's in the way. It looks to me like if the camera was dropped appropriately, each row in front of the GK would be in the way. |
