Hi all, I came across this thought as a by product of the recent conversions thread and some of the rule book references there. Page 67 states "Every model in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is armed with a single handed weapon unless his profile specifically states that he is unarmed (pg 68)." So does this mean that models like Uruk-Hai beserkers and Grimbold have one handed weapons by default since they are obviously not listed as unarmed? Assuming this is correct, then every model with a two handed weapon also has a one handed weapon and can then choose to use either in combat. This would make them functionally equivalent to being equipped with an Elven Blade, for free! This doesn't seem right! Thanks for you time and replies in advance and have a great day! |

Firstly welcome to the One Ring. You are indeed correct that all models, such as Berserkers have one handed weapons as well. However they don't "have Elven blades for free", the two hand weapon is included in their base cost |

Which is why the rules department has been kind enough to give those with precious Elven blades an extra rule: in the case of a drawn combat, they are more likely to win the roll (3-6 rather than 4-6). |

They do get that little bonus now that I take a second look. The fact that Elven Blades cost a point now also has this making a bit more sense. Thanks for clearing that up guys! |
