The ones in the Ruins of Arnor book. Grey Company is the faction which is comprised of Aragorn, Halbarad, Arathorn, the Twins, Rangers of the North, Dunedain, and the Rangers of Arnor. The new books make the distinction a little blurrier, but yes, Rangers of Middle-Earth can be used anywhere you need normal Ranger warriors.

The Grey Company models I believe had identical stats to Rangers of the North and could be used in their place.

So if I could always choose to use some Rangers of Middle-Earth as the Grey Company in Games Workshop or at any tournaments and it would still be okay?

 possibly. I'd say no because the RoN/ Grey Company models look different to the rangers of middle earth models - more armoured. If you was doing an entire army then i reckon you would have to buy the metal versions so they look different. Otherwise it could get confusing for your opponent.

Oops, I think I wasn't too clear.

I didn't mean to use the Rangers of Middle-Earth models as the Grey Company models. I was just wondering if in a battle, I could tell my opponent that I'm going to use the special bow rule with my Rangers of Middle-Earth.

You have to have 1 RoN per 4 rangers of middle earth. To get the special bow rule you would have to have a list like this

Arathorn
12 Rangers of Arnor

3 Rangers of the North

Or, if you're using LoME:

3 Rangers of the North(*) or Dunedain
12 Rangers of Arnor(**)

* - represented by the metal Rangers of the North models or the metal Grey Company models
** - represented by the plastic Rangers of Middle-Earth.

Thanks a lot guys. I've been wanting to purchase Rangers of Middle-Earth for a really long time now.
Did they produce a set of 24 Rangers before?

Some stores still have them.

@Gothmog- wow, nice increase in posts since I was last on. You've been busy. :)

Yes, they have produced a box of 24 Rangers- when you combined that with the fact that you could field them very simply by purchasing Rangers of the North and Dunedain, it made for a rather inexpensive army that could mop the table in the LoME. As it is, I haven't been able to experiment with my Grey Company since the Warbands came out, though I'm looking forward to the experience.

And imo, picking up the Rangers is a very useful thing to do, as you can use them, not only to supplement an Arnor or Grey Compnay force or warband, but also to fit in with folks from Gondor and the Fiefdoms.

Can purchase:
- Spear for 1pt.
- Heavy Armour for 5pts.
- Horse for 10pts.

(Using a Captain of Minas Tirith as a standard).

Following every single other warrior-to-captain comparison (unless I missed one), he should have 1 more fight and courage and of course have 5D.

A Dunedain Captain should be at least as good as a Dunedain, with F5 and C5. The D isn't listed in Ondoher's stat line.

Those stats aren't in the book, they're the suggested stats for a house rule. If you compare a Warrior of Minas Tirith to a Captain, you will see that all of the standard stats are 1 higher for the captain and the might is always 2/1/1. This holds true for every case of warrior to captain upgrades.

Excluding Wild Wargs and Black Guard of Barad-dur.

I always forget about the Wargs, but I thought that the Black Guard held true, except they gain a special rule.

Nearly, closer than Wargs, but the Guard Captains don't have the +1 strength that the rest of them have, and there's the aforementioned special rule.

Yeah but if the BG captains got +1 str then they would be as strong as a troll...just doesnt seem right, as much as that would be awesome.

Mainly because if they were that strong, the rules would allow Guard Captains to count as 3 models for pushing siege equipment which would be bending the rules, a line had to be drawn. Though, you're right it would be awesome, though they're good as it is.

Ok, I forgot about that. Never used the minis, so I never had to know the rules.
