Hey gang. I need to trim 41 points from an army list and at the moment it looks like may be Azog's warg. Here's the questions. Is she worth the points? I plan on keeping Azog on her as it seems that Azog would just destroy anyone if he was mounted. 8 attacks to kill if he charged!
I'm thinking maybe I can find the points elsewhere in the army to trim.

Any advice and tales of experience welcome.

If you're going to drop the White Warg, I would advise switching him out for Bolg. Bolg is going to kill just as many enemies as Azog on foot, but he is MUCH tougher to kill. I would personally never take Azog on foot.

Alrighty. I think I'll do that then. Would you say that Bolg's +2 defence is a better investment than Azog's hero butchering rule? I guess Bolg will be slaying heroes mostly on a 4+ anyway so it's not a huge difference.

Yep, Azog is expensive already, but without the Warg I wouldn't bother to take him at all.

Azog's weakness is his low defence and 1 Fate, on the attack he is absolutely unstoppable. If you want to take him then you should absolutely put him on the White Warg, he's not worth 175 points on foot but he is worth 225 points mounted. 4 attacks at F7 with 8 chances to wound is staggeringly good. His high fight value will ensure he beats troops (who he'll normally kill on 3+) and his special rule against Heroes will mean your enemy is hesitant to get into combat with him to Heroic Strike. In addition, the WW essentially turns him into a 6 Might, 4 Will, 2 fate model so it's worth bringing along purely for the Might and Fate boosts it grants him. The White Warg also has 3 wounds and a Fate which makes it harder to shoot from under him, making the whole model more durable.

If you want a model on foot then go for Bolg all day long but if you've got the 50 points then I would trim it from elsewhere. If you can get Azog on the White Warg to the enemy lines and charging then he's one of the most unstoppable models in the game.

This may be a point to clarify or check - If automatically dismounted, can he re-mount the white warg? I think the answer is generally no, but you would do well to find that out, as that would be the only real weakness to taking him on the puppy. Sorry I cant look it up for you right now.

No he can't. Under the Hobbit rules no model that has been dismounted may re-mount their mount, even if they stick around. It's a shame and I disagree with it but the rules are pretty clear.

I really wish he could remount after hopping off. Just think how powerful he would be. My friends dwarves wouldn't stand a chance...
